What's the deal with color shifting and how long should it take with the Philips bulbs? Mine are still more yellow than I'd like, but they are getting better.

Usually take about 100 to 500 hours, but the color shift is only like 250K kelvin, so dont expect a big difference. It is a very gradual change and unless you paid close attention to it, you might not notice at all.

Steve--
Mine are doing great--nice and crystal white for sure, I only get the hints of blueish at certain angles on the GX--I love them for sure.

Hi,

Philips 4300k HID bulbs reach color temperatures of up to 4700k once they fully color shift.

It's more of a gradual shift. According to Philips it take approximately 100 hours of use.

Kind of lost this thread....lol

Im wanting to throw me some HID fogs in now to go with my HID's I have now! Im guessing to go with the same color as I have now in the headlights? 4300K or should I go one step up to to the 5K. I cant believe they make a H3 in HID--such a small bulb but Im guessing its just as good as the bigger bulbs, plus the light output of both Headlights and Fogs should really look nice.

So for those out there with HID headlights do you also have the HID foglights installed? How do you like them.......

I have to ask this, how many member of GX have truly done an upgrade with HID Xenon with the ballast, and how many have done the projector lens upgrade. You can have the best HIDs but all halogen projectors do not have the ability to put decisively give the best results when it comes to cut and color output. The snap below is done with a TSX lens Bi- Xenon with Infiniti FX35 Matsu****a Ballast ignitors. The TSX lens costs around 250/-$ a set.

Hi Booyah,

One way or another the light output will not look identical as your low beams are projectors and your fogs are reflectors. I personally would say go with a 4300k HID kit to get the best match as the 5k may come out a little too bluish.

I personally am a fan of 3k yellow in the fogs though =)

I have been wondering about this...I want to put HID's in my GX but I am afraid of what the output light pattern will be like. I have a loaner from my dealer which is an '08 RX350 with HIDs and it is amazing. If I install the HID kit from xenon depot will it have a "factory" light output (light distribution is even with a crisp light planar region) like that of the RX350 or will it be the pattern of my current halogens, only whiter? Thanks!

it will be crisp except for the 'squirrel cage' which illuminates overhead signs. I've had mine in for well over a year now and am thrilled. No difference between the output form the XD kit in my GX vs the OEM HIDs in my GS... well that's not true... I actually like the output I get from my GX better

I also have the HIDS in my GX and LOOOOOVE them! Now the cutoff you will get from the GX will not be quite like the RX but--it will be CLOSE, I mean really close, it has great lines--you will love them. The light pattern is really great and makes a world of difference at night and I also get No-one flashing me at night

I had this mod done before my Temp tags expired..lol
