2003 GX470 Key Programming
I bought a 2003 GX470 with one key. I bought a key blank off eBay and got it cut at Lexus. It will unlock the doors, but will not start the car. How do I program the key to start the car??? Help.
Thanks.
Thanks.
search imobolizer program ull find it for an sc430...should be the same
try the following. if it doesn't work, the key will have to be programmed by a Lexus dealer, or a locksmith with the proper equipment.
1.Insert the existing masterkey into the ignition. (Note: The immobilizer light should go out immediately).
2.Within fifteen seconds, press and release the accelerator (gas) pedal five times.
3.Within twenty seconds, press and release the brake pedal six times.
4.Remove the master key from the ignition.
5.Within ten seconds insert the new key into the ignition. (Note: The immobilizer light should remain non-lit at this time).
6.Within ten seconds, press and release the accelerator (gas) pedal one time and observe the immobilizer light will start to flash a few seconds after depressing the accelerator (gas) pedal.
7.After about eighty seconds, the new key is registered and the immobilizer light will stop flashing and go off.
8.Remove the new key from the ignition and press and release the brake pedal one time (within 10 seconds after removing the key) to close the immobilizer onboard programming procedure.
9.Wait ten seconds, then insert the new key into the ignition and if the programming procedure was properly done, the vehicle should start when the ignition is turned to the start position.
10. Proceed to phase two, once the new key starts your car.
Note: Due to variations in the vehicles computer (ECM), the above procedure may fail to program the new key. If you cannot program the key using the above procedure, you will have to have it programmed by a Lexus dealer or a qualified locksmith in your area.
PHASE 2
1.Remove the key from the ignition switch. Open the driver’s door. Make sure that all other doors are closed.
2.Within five seconds, insert and remove the key from the ignition switch twice.
3.Within forty seconds, close and open the driver’s door twice, then insert and remove the key from the ignition switch.
4.Within forty seconds, close and open the driver’s door twice, then insert the key into the ignition switch, and close the driver’s door.
5.Switch the ignition ON and OFF once to program a key remote transmitter code, while retaining the original codes.
6.Remove the key from the ignition switch. System should now lock and unlock the vehicle once. System will then lock and unlock the vehicle one to four times slowly to indicate the number of key remote transmitters registered.
7.Within forty seconds, press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK key remote transmitter buttons together for 1.5 seconds.
8.Within three seconds, press any key remote transmitter button, system should now lock and unlock the vehicle once to confirm registration, twice will indicate registration has failed.
9.If required, repeat button procedure within forty seconds to program remaining key remote transmitters.
10.To exit programming mode, open driver door, or insert the key into the ignition.
***NOTE: A maximum of 4 remote transmitters can be programmed.

I know Ford Service has told me that you can self program an extra key thru a sequence similar to this, but ONLY if have 2 programmed keys. That is you can program a third key. Their reasoning is to keep a tricky parking attendent/valet from duping your key with the one key you left with them.
