IPOD Connection - Simple for now
While I have to save my pennies for an upcoming cruise the VAISTECH IPOD/NAV option will have to wait for awhile. In the past I bought the Griffin smartdeck (cassette deck) adapter and have been woefully disappointed. The Monster FM transmitter works but the sound is not the clean not to mention that when on a road trip you are consistently looking for a "clean" frequency, not easy while transitting through LA.
My wife has lent me her 18 year old cassette deck adapter that was originally intended for a CD player. The sound is incredible but after about 20 minutes or so the GX decides to flip it a few times and then spits it out. Does anyone know of a basic cassette deck adapter that WORKS?
Cheers and Thanks,
Tom

I have the same problem, and bought the Sony cassette adaptor based on advice in one of the forums here. It is by no means a perfect solution, but it was much quieter than a couple of other brands I tried. I think it uses a band instead of noisy gears as in the other units.
I don't think I have run it for as much as 20 minutes, so I can't address that issue.

I had used a Belkin Adapter for a while. I could listen for hours and never had the tape heads (change sides) flip on me. That only occured if you hit the tape button accidentally again. If I did to that, than I would just flip it back again. Usually the mechanisms just spin in the open cassette reel holes. As I said, I had no problems. And the sound was pretty decent too.
But now I have the Vaistech system and find that faaaarrrrrr better. I do highly recommend that configuration. I need to send my SoundLINQ for an update to increase the track count. But, no nasty problems. Just one problem of the interface going stupid occasionally if you select Radio or CD or DVD and than go back. It defaults to the "other" input and when you cycle to the IPOD side you get no sound out. The cure for that is doing the cycle the CD button around again, and pausing on each source for a few seconds before returning to the IPOD side. ANd than you hear the sound again. Perhaps the new update will fix that issue as well. Good Luck in your hunt.
