Is it just me or are these vechicles a bit spendy to service at the dealers? My GX is the first Lexus I have owned, and have been suprised at the cost for oil changes and most recently at my 15K service. All items are what is recommended in the manual, so I am happy to get it done, but seems like I cant get out of the dealer for less than $200-450 for service appts.
My other cars are Audi's which have always come with all service included so I have not paid for any oil change or scheduled maintenance for years. Maybe I am just spoiled.
I am guessing the costs are in line, but wish Lexus would do something like Audi is doing after 2006. Audi has dropped the "no-pay-for-service," but for $550 you can buy all the scheduled maintenance/oil changes/etc for the 4yr/50Kmile warranty period. This package is transferrable with the car and is good at all Audi dealers in the country.
I guess I would rather pay a little more for the car and see less of a hit everytime I need service.
I avoid the dealer for everything other than warranty work..............I get my oil changed (synthetic) and tires rotated every 5k miles and have almost 55k miles with no issues. Total cost of $55 complete.

Just my 2 cents.
You are exactly right...that is why I avoid the dealer except for warranty work. I can change the oil myself with a better filter and synthetic oil for less than $50 and 20 minutes of my time.
