Default 2007 GX update

Hello to all -
For all of you who are interested in the 2007 GX 470 I just got back from the dealer w/ almost no new news. I tried to place an order for an 07' , which I can but they want $1000 deposit and they have no Idea how much of a price increase there will be. When asked if they will know any time soon I was told by my salesman that he is calling every other day for me to see if the increase will be significant or when they will even be released (he seems to think October). I have no problem w/ giving the depsoit b/c it will be a special order but they cannot guaranty me the sales price of $1500 above invoice due to the fact that they dont know what the profit margin will be w/ the new pricing. Also no new news on uprades other than the Nav. Hope this sheds some light to all who were wondering

I would think that the dealers would get the 07 information in June. April is still 2 months to early.

Yep, new info should not be available to the public until June.

Rumor has it that the 4runner is getting re-design in 08. I would expect the GX to be redeign in the same year or the following year. Look for minor changes in the 07 GX such as LED taillights , update nav software or IPOD aux jack.

Anyone think we'll see a 6-cyl GX and/or a two-wheel drive version for 2007? The 6 cyl of the 4Runner would be fine for some of us if we were not pulling the 4wd weight around. I hear that the 6 cyl version exists in Europe, right?

I couldn't imagine a 6 cyl. GX. I owned a 6 cyl. Mitsubishi Montero which is similar in size and weight, and that thing was an absolute dog. It was lethargic in stop and go traffic, you couldn't safely pass on the highway, and fuel economy was horrible.

True, that is a good point.

I was just thinking that the two V6's in the stable are fairly competent though:

V6 4.0L 236hp / 266 lb-ft (4Runner)
V6 3.5L 270hp / 251 lb-ft (RX350)

torque would be way down from the V8 in the GX but if it was a 2wd version it might be fine...

If you want a 2WD, 6 cyl SUV, buy the RX350.

Thanks, but RX is too small for our needs.

I owned a V6 4Runner and it had plenty of power. Obviously it would be the same V6 that would go into a GX if they ever made a V6. I doubt that you ever see it.

A V6 GX will be priced into the 4runner's and RX category...i doubt that Lexus/Toyota would do that. But, then they did that with ES350 and IS350...so what do i know?!!

A 6 cyl GX would be called GX400, Does anybody really think Lexus needs another model in their SUV line up?
