I think the factory states every 30k miles. Teh GX is still to new, but will probably get a new one every 15k (will see little dirt road). On my V8 4RUnner I replace it every 10k miles as it sees a bit of offroad duty.

Engine air filter, normal environment every 30K miles - Air filters actually filter better (cleaner air into your engine) when they are dirty, that is up to the point where they start to restrict airflow and then you will see a drop off in performance and gas mileage, so 30K mile mark is a good point to use. I always change my own airfilter because it is very important that it is installed correctly, if it isn't you can damage your engine with dirt getting into it, plus they are very easy to install. Now if you are talking about the cabin airfilter I replace that every year, it too is easy to replace.

30k is way too much for any car, even more so for an truck. Reccomended intervals are at minimum at 20k for small cars in perfect enviroment and probably around 10k in dirty enviroment...

Wonder why Toyota recommends changing the engine airfilter at 30K miles? What do you base your 10K mile recommendation on? I'm sure that it depends on where you drive your vehicle. If I drove off road in very dusty conditions I would agree with the earlier changes. I guess you just need to use your own good judgement and check your filter, every now and then.
