Does anybody know where I can have a center console installed like in the picture below ??

 

That appears to be a picture of a Toyota Prado. You just need to get the part number for that center console.

While we are talking about center consoles, I have to say that the LX470 has a very comfortable center console. Any chance that it would fit in a GX470 without serious modification? :-)

 

I can ask my brother to call the dealership and ask how much the whole center console assembly will cost. I think in the Philippines Prado only come in the beige interior as pictured in my dad's Prado above.

I don't think that center console will work with the armrests we have in our GX captain's chairs. That is one of the major reasons why we don't have much storage in our center consoles. The articulation of the armrests would scrap or hit that center console picture but correct me if I am wrong.

With the center console, there is no need for the armrests, just like in the LX 470.

I do love my armrest but would really like a bigger storage area in the center console. My question is how do we move the DVD player for the RES system?

In my case, I don't have the OEM RES. I went with an Aftermarket System with TV.

I really like the center console in the 100 series as well. I would love to find a suitable unit, even aftermarket, to install in the 120. Removing the armrests in the chairs could make room. I have an aftermarket roof-mounted video system, so the RES would not be an issue for me either.

I tried to get my buddy who went to Germany to get me one (LHD) at Toyota, man!!! you have to buy it piece by piece (and there's A LOT of pieces) in the end it was almost $1k

Finding a used LHD Prado assembly would be best...question is, How though?
I've tried ebay in other countries... no luck

Funny, that console looks almost identical to the center console in my '96 Land Rover Discovery...

 

Its a funny thing, I hated the arm rest when I 1st bought my GX, then I got use to it. Now that I traded in my GX to a car that has the normal center armrest console, I once again realized how much I hated the GX's armrest

 

The one gripe that I have about my GX is the arm rests. I'd much rather have a full center console, but haven't been able to find an after market solution.
