VVT-i i-Force for 2005?
Well it's pretty much confirmed that the Tundra V8 is going to be getting a 38 horsepower and 8 pound of torque (plus a flatter power curve all around) boost for the 2005 model year.
The thing is that all i-Force V8s, from the 25k dollar Tundra to the 70k dollar LX470, are essentially identical and are all built in the same factory in Japan.
So that would leave me to believe (and hope) that even though the news lines have only been talking about the Tundra, the change will be carried over to all of Toyota's i-Force equipped models simultanously. I'm especially interested to know of the GX470 and 4Runner V8 will see the same.
Do any of you have any hints or leads as to whether or not this is going to be in our future for the '05 model year?

I believe the Tundra will be redesigned for the 2006 model year. Would it make more sense to see the new engine then instead of this fall?

I also know that Toyota will start building their trucks in their new San Antonio Texas plant, as well as moving production of at least the i-Force found in american-made Toyota vehicles (which I think right now is really only the Tundra) to a new plant they're currently constructing an Alabama.

So far nobody has any more information than what I've already presented in this thread. We're fast approaching the '05 model year launch though and so I wanted to see if anyone has any new info.

This is another rumor 2004 Tundra 1Ton 5.4L althought the Tudra power increase has been confirmed, not known if the other V8 trucks will get the upgrade but they probably will

Right... so basically we're right where we started at the beginning of this thread where I said it has been confirmed that VVT-i will be going into the Tundra, but does anyone know if it also carry on over to the other V8 Toyota/Lexus vehicles?
Trending Topics
The Tundra is probably getting the increased HP cause of pressure from the Titan and the F-150, the mass market of people your selling to only want to buy the HP numbers and they will go elsewhere for the higher numbers.
Now after reading tons of threads on the increased HP with vvt-i for the Tundra I came to my own theory that the GX and the V8 4Runner should also get the increase cause they just began their life and I doubt Toyota is gonna just discontinue the 4.7L anytime soon, it's life only began in 99 or 2000, if it's anything like other engines it should be around for more then 10 years, plus now all the manurfactures increase their horsepower every year or 2 so I guess Toyota does not want to sit back like they did in the past.
Their is also another V8 in the works that should show up in the 2nd Generation Tundra 5.something and maybe Toyota is gonna keep the 4.7 as a base engine like Ford does, plus the next Tacoma and the unknown future of the LandCrusier and LX, their are plenty of vehicles that can use a V8, the GX should come standard with the TRD SC
thats upscale luxury and it needs a 300hp engine, the 1 reason I'll be buying a 2nd Loaded V8 Limited 4Runner is cause the GX is way to heavy
