lexus claims that the ones in the showroom are 05, but the real 05 with the new engine and all the new features, are usually built and/or launched in dec.

You know something's cooking and significant changes are on the way (not neccesarily a revamp), because Lexus is taking so long to tell us about the 2005 GX and it's still not updated on their website (everything other model is updated to 2005)!

That is curious, isn't it. I wonder if they are doing some last minute testing. It would be interesting to know the actual percentage of GX owners that are having vibration, clunk and wind noise problems, and, if the word has come down to get those eliminated for the 2005 model.

I have seen some discussion on wind noise problems, though not near as much as the vibration and clunking issues, either on this forum or the other forum or both.

Windshield seals and the roof rack were listed as possible causes.

No, 2004 GX470's are in our showroom right now. 2005' GX470's are coming in December. And typically the model end is in August while the new model start is in September. This has always been Lexus' cycle. This new cycle is highly unusual for us.

Thank you for this good info and confirmation. I hope we can get more info, photos, etc of the 2005 well before december of course, so we can make our minds and get a 2005 on order!

While the new cycle is September, the 2003 and 2004 GX was notorious for having small footnotes in the brochure that stated that some of the features weren't available until the November builds. So, yes, you could buy a 2004 back in September 2003, but you had to wait until november to get a 2004 with the new 2004 features. It's as if the September and October builds were really just 2003's but they called them 2004's simply to keep the GX cycle consistent with other models. My guess is that , for whatever reason (consumer/dealer complaints?) they realized that it was kinda' stupid to pseudo-release a new year in September when it isn't really ready, forcing everyone to pay attention to actual build versions. (I know mine is a 9700C... how many of your other vehicles do you know the actual build date of )

That said, why the GX takes until November to be ready with the new features, I have no clue. Maybe it has something to do with all the sharing it does with the 4Runner. Maybe the way they cycle the building of these things, they may not be able to start building new-featured GX's until they finish an initial build of 4Runners.
