Why I bought this truck. Within the last few days, the rains have been pretty relentless in Austin. Well tonight I had a small taste of this trucks ability. The roads were really slippery and some areas were prettty flooded out where I live, and since I live for the most part just out of Austin, the road is also pretty much void of any street lights. Anyway, the truck really came through tonight. People complain about the simplest things (IMO), but let's be honest for a minute, you bought a Lexus because of the reliability and more importantly for the safety.
Tonight, I was able to get a small glimpse on how the designers/engineers at Lexus work. They design vehicles to safely get the most valuable cargo (you and your loved ones) from point A to B. I guess it's hard for me to explain because I went from a SUV that scared the hell out of me to drive in the rain/snow to something that was almost an extension of my thoughts such as the rain-sensing wipers, the advanced traction control and the overall soundness of the vehicle (compare the weight of the doors on the GX to its' sister the 4Runner...the GX is much heavier). I admit Lexus may not have the most flashy/trendy vehicles such as the Germans or other Japanese manufacturers, but one thing is for certain, they design the vehicles to get you and your loved ones from point A to B safely.
We're north of Austin and the rains have been pretty bad too. I took the truck to a complete stop and mashed the accelerator down to try to get even just a little bit of wheel spin. It didn't work. The nose of the car just lifted up and it took off with absolutely no hint of wheel spin at all. I even took it on a steep hill and tried it... that torsen diff works wonders
full throttle the vehicle and make a turn on wet pavement... beeep beep beep... thats the vsc at work ohh make sure there are no curbs or any other infrences..also watch the vehicle sway.. dont want to fall over

I wasn't talking about losing lateral traction... just straight line traction. This is our first 4wd vehicle and it's amazing how hard you can punch it from a stop with no wheel slip at all, even on wet pavement
