Default 08-09 rear windshield chrome strip restore, replace, remove?

My 08 gx470 has this chrome strip on the rear windshield at the bottom of the glass. The strip is cracked and scratched and barley even looks chrome anymore. I've really struggled to find any information on the strip, most searches come up with stuff about the side window moulding. Apparently it's only on the 08-09 models and is part of the rear windshield as a whole. Well anyway mine looks like **** and I'm looking for some thoughts about what to do. I've tried chrome polish and that does nothing the material doesn't feel like the chrome on the rest of the car it feels more like plastic. Light abrasives leave more scratches and gray comes thru. Preferably I'd just polish it up with elbow grease but it doesn't seem to be restorable, I'd replace it but apparently you can't just get the strip it's part of the windshield? That leaves me with using something like chrome paint to repaint it or removing it. Is this strip just glued on? What would be the best way to remove it without scratching the glass?

Don't see that as a separate part

Don't know how it is attached. Doesn't look that bad to me if it really bothers you cover it with Plasti Dip.

I don't see that as a separate part either, and the US parts sites say the rear glass is no longer available through Lexus.
Maybe the aftermarket glass companies have it on their glass, but I can't see them selling it separately, or OP be willing to pay $700+ for new glass just to get it.

Maybe look at how it's attached and if you can remove it? Perhaps no trim is better than old trim?

I think just removing it would look better than plasti dip. I like the chrome trim on the rest of the car but this piece is so fated it has no shine and is just gray. Most likely its just stuck on with adhesive. I guess I would just heat it up with a heat gun and pry it off with a plastic trim tool? I'm still pretty new to DIY car stuff.
