Default Chrome Windshield Strip/Molding Replacement: Need Help

Top chrome strip that runs along the top of the windshield where it meets the roof is starting to look dull and run down on my 2005. I found the strip online and looking to replace asap.

Can this be done with the windshield still in the car? How do I get the old one out and the new one installed?

No, it cannot be replaced properly without removing the windshield.

You can buy some Mothers Chrome Polish and polish the chrome trim to make it look new again. My trim looked horrible until I got the polish and applied it using a terry towel.

I have tried polishing and waxing and sealing but it goes right back to looking dull in a short amount of time. It is 10 years old now so its deteriorated and just needs replaced. Guess I will have to live with it unless the windshield has to be replaced. Thanks guys

I was thinking the same thing. I had my roof wrapped in gloss black, which made the silver chrome on the windshield really pop out, and as you said, it looks very dull and old.
I don't think the polish will do too much.

I was thinking of wrapping it also in black, so it doesn't look half as bad.

Same goes for the back windshield too.

I had my pillars wrapped last year and asked about them doing the strip but they said it was too thin. If you do yours please let me know how it turns out.

The upper chrome strip on my 04 LS430 is badly faded from the Arizona sun. The dealer quoted me $75 for the replacement strip but said that a windshield company would have to install it to ensure it was sealed properly. No mention of the glass being temporarily removed in the process. Haven't followed up yet and had it done. Will post again when it's done. Hope that helps.

Be sure you insist on an OEM strip replacement.
