Default Inaccurate temperature gauge

Has anyone heard of a fix yet for the inaccurate outside temperature gauge? It drives me crazy to see my temp gauge display 68 degrees when I know the temp is around 90 degrees. Sure, if you drive the car for an hour, the temp gauge gets close to the actual outside temp. Seems like a bad design if the gauge adjusts so slowly.

Red face Innaccurate Temperature Guage

I have the same problem. I've addressed this issue to the dealership. The written response was: "Lexus is aware of this problem, but there is no fix yet." It took place on Sep. 16, 2003. Then, I re-addressed the issue a month later, a few days ago, and still the same response. I am planning to wait one more month and then I will contact the headqurters with all the records I have. I just hope that they will rectify the issue soon.

I have the same problem. I spoke to my Service Manager around Sept 15th. He indicated that Lexus has found the problem with the Temp Guage and they are currently building the replacement computer module. He stated that it would take 6 to 8 weeks for the parts to start coming in. I confirmed this a couple of weeks ago with my Service Writer when I took mine in for the 10,000 mile service.

It seems like it's on the up and up - with the fix coming soon.

I just took my car in for an oil change yesterday and the service manager said Lexus has a part number for the corrective part to address the temp gauge problem. Sadly, the part has not been released to the dealers. Hopefully, we are getting close to getting this issue resolved.

Default Temp gauge & altimeter

My '04 temp gauge is pretty close, but has anyone tried the altimeter? I live on a lake, so know my altitude. I have calibrated it per instructions, but next day it's way off agin. I don't think it's an important feature. The bigger question is why would Lexus bother to add such aa erronious useless feature? Also, MPG computer is consistently about 2-3 MPG higher than actual, but I guess it makes one feel good. I average about 16 MPG HWY and some City driving.

The altimeter is nothing more than a calibrated pressure gauge. The gauges are not very accurate especially when pressure fronts roll in. However, for the MOST part, they aren't too bad off. I use one on my cycling computer, and I can see the fronts roll in as the pressure fluctuates.

New TSB just came out and the new temp. control assembly will need to be replace( the control above the radio). They still have to do some check on another circuit before they replace the control assembly and then order the part. You may have to make 2 trips for the visit.

VVT-i,

Can you find out the TSB number so when I go to the dealership I can refer them to it. In the past this has saved me much trouble . Thanks for keeping us up on the latest on this issue

mine sometimes has an incorrect temperature reading. But when i switch it to altitude, it shows me the correct reading, then sometimes -250ft. don't tell me that i live 250 below sea level. I live in a valley and when my gx was new, it read 50ft, which seemed to be right. Hope i could get my dealer to fix it and also the clunk.

Talking The temp problem fixed

I just had the entire top display replaced for the one that corrects the temp reading as well as the accuracy of the MPG meter. So, it not just a little part, it is the entire display unit.
