Default HID Ballast replacement

Hey all, I've done a lot of reading that the dealer will not separate the ballasts from the entire housing. Lame. I ran across these, would they work???

http://www.kbcarstuff.com/d4s-denso-...nso-d4s-rb.htm

They look Almost identical. Anyone feel free to chime in!!! Anyone have their originals off that can compare??

Can you get a closer pic of the housing, front and back? I think I found the part! Hopefully no more trying to buy the whole housing for our flickering problems!

Nevermind! It's compatible. I called Denso and the verified that the "Parts No. KDLT003 and DDLT003 are the same part. The Larger number specifies what vehicle they went to.

My biggest thing is that everything I have read says that we can't get replacement ballasts ONLY. The dealership only sells the whole (expensive) headlight assembly. But we all seem to encounter the flickering headlight issue. So if we need ballasts only, here is a potential solution! I emailed the engineer a pic of that ballast that IXI187IXI posted, and he did some cross referencing. Then... Boom! Looks like we may finally have options!

the dealer says a lot of things. may be a known issue, but Toyota doesn't want to do a recall so they will only sell the head light assembly. if the part is removable, it can be changed. it's only a ballast, simple as changing a head light bulb.

Everything I have read on here says people have been unable to just by the ballast because Lexus only sells the whole headlight assembly. But I used to work at a local Toyota dealership and am fully aware of the carry over of Toyota and Lexus part #'s. So I called my guys, and he and I did some digging... bingo. No need to buy the whole headlight assembly from Lexus! The above listed parts #'s change over, so we can buy the OEM Denso/Koito ballasts from the link i put up. $120 vs $1600... I know my choice!

Not sure about the GS, because I just got mine. But that ballast looks identical to the ones on the ISx50. I replaced ballasts twice on my IS, it wasn't easy to access the ballast because of the way the headlight was designed. Other than accessing it, everything is pretty much plug and play. Just make sure it is D4S (picture does show this) and not another variation that may be D2S. Unlikely, but possible.

If the GS headlight assembly allow you to remove and replace the ballast without having to take apart the headlights then you're good to go. The hardest part will probably be taking the bumper off.

I most definitely will! I will be tackling this next weekend. Shouldn't be too difficult. The valve job on my old Acura TL-S was easy, so I imagine removing the front bumper on this old girl should be a cake walk.

My girl has an stock 06 GS 300 with this flickering problem now.

Does that link above link to the correct part number to order to replace the ballast?

Just making sure they GS has the d4s...

I was confused by the list of part numbers in that post a couple below your original post.
