Default need help with 99gs4

guys, i was changing my courtesy light for the front right door and it stopped working at all, now here is the problem- my dash says door ajar even when all the doors are closed and all the lights associated with it stay on(key light, footpedal light and so on) and so drain my battery all the time. some one please help me with any good suggestions or even a way to disable it .

Have you checked the fuse? If it's bad, change it.

If not, I'd try and remove your negative side battery for about 30 minutes and see what happens...

thanks uncleray but i did all that and nothing happened, however, i finally tore down the door and started unplugging all the sockets to see if something would happen and it sure did. i found out that the ecu box for the door was the problem. (the big black box that hangs on the door when the panel is removed). so i disconnected it and it stopped but the bad thing is- everything in the door will not work until i fix or replace the box. its better for me though because now i dont have to worry about jumping the car every morning. ill get it fixed soon.

wow im having this EXACT problem, even on the same door.its due to my stupid self using a cheap test light instead of my meter and crossing the wiring (actually i think they may have touched for a sec) thus short circuiting my door light. did u ever get this fixed OP? i pulled EVERY and i mean every fuse inside and outside to check them (since nothing in the owners manual seemed to describe something like this.) and i hate to buy a door ecu and that not fix it...

SINCE OP hasnt been back since february has anyone else done anything or had a problem like this?

i havent yet broke out my meter to check for voltage or continuity but im gonna attempt to "borrow" a local members door ecu if he will let me and plug his up and see if this fixes my problems if so i will buy a new door ecu

well, verified mine was also this door control the OP mentioned.

you can see it in this pic (black box in upper left corner) local member is fixing it....if his fix doesnt work, i will replace the whole thing but just letting you know if you have issues like this its probably not a fuse, its this control box

Yikes. Did you ever get any positive results, Brian? It's driving me nuts. How much do one of those boxes go for anyway? Part number #?

Lmao. What's the difference between our problems, Brian? My door ajar light stays on as well as all the associated lights. It happened after I installed LEDs into the courtesy lights.

our problems are different.....or i think they are different cause i NEVER had a door ajar light stay on nor the other lights stay on when i blew mine NOTHING worked i was soldering stuff together and touched two wires on accident thus frying my door ecu. its unlikely you adding leds did this unless both metal contacts were touching. did you check your fuses, did you check another bulb? DID YOU CHECK THE DOOR SWITCH like i mentioned before? if u have a local member see if you can "borrow" their door ecu and try swapping them to see if theirs works
