Question No Bluetooth Audio when iPhone plugged into USB port

Hi everyone - the Bluetooth audio works fine w/ Enform for apps like Pandora when my iPhone is not plugged into the USB port on the car. However, when the phone is plugged into the USB port (so that I can charge it) the Bluetooth audio cannot be heard. The car looks to still be receiving data from the phone, as the song & album info appear on the display but there is no sound.

Anyone run into this? Wondering if when the iPhone is plugged into USB port it "mounts" the phone as a drive (for the media player) and therefore shuts down the audio portion of Bluetooth?

Thanks in advance

Thats exactly what happens, when the USB port is plugged in Apple defaults the iPhone to send audio through the USB port. You can override this on the iPhone by going to music, pressing the button for source at the bottom of the screen, and selecting your BT Audio over the Dock Connector. Unfortunately you have to do that every time you plug it in, thats an Apple thing not a Lexus thing.

If you're only using the USB port to charge, I would recommend the actual charging port to charge. The USB doesn't put out that much power and wasn't really designed to charge. Like SW13GS said, when an iPhone is plugged it it sorta goes into iPod mode and can interfere with bluetooth.

I did exactly that on a 600 mile trip yesterday. I had Pandora music via Bluetooth for ten hours (plus a lot of phone calls) and arrived home with my iPhone fully charged.

Oddly enough I've found the USB port in the GS charges the iPhone really quickly...

I'm not saying it won't charge because it will. It just doesn't put out much power compared to the charging port.

It depends on the smartphone also. Some phones use a lot of juice so you need a powerful charger to get a quick charge. The OEM USB port charged my Galaxy Nexus phone rapidly but was slow to charge my larger and more power hungry Galaxy S4 phone. Picked up a dual 2.1A USB charger and now my Galaxy S4 charges fast again.

The USB port in the Lexus seems to charge my iPhone more quickly than the wall charger at home

Yet the USB port in the Jeep barely charges it at all...

Is there a separate charging port, separate from the USB port?

The 'cigarette lighter' port in the center console, or the power port behind the center console (accessible by rear seat passengers)

Wow, when Lexus says "Pursuit Of Perfection", they also included USB phone charging!

The home charger was made in China and the Jeep is....a Jeep.

There's an easier way to get the Bluetooth working again, simply adjust the volume and it comes right back even while the phone charges.

Ok, so the consensus is to not use the USB port and instead charge via a power port (presumably by inserting an adapter) and using Bluetooth for music and phone?

Default USB and Bluetooth simultaneously?

I have seen several old messages but no definitive answer to this. I just bought a 2019 RC350.
Can I connect my iPod to the USB port, permanently, and still use my iPhone for calls, at the same time?
