Default Smart Card Working?

My parents just got a new 2013 GS and I wanted to set my dad up with a smart card. I saw some threads talking about people wanting to get them, but no one seemed to confirm that it did in fact work. The one review from http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...2013/5212.html says it doesn't work. Anyone have any personal experience?

What kind of GS does he have an F-Sport or the regular luxury model. I know it is said that it doesn't work with the F-Sport, as my dealer keeps trying to order it but it gets kicked back. Luxury model should be fine.

It doesnt make sense that it would not work on an F-Sport but would on the luxury model. The smart key system is the same...

It's the Luxury Package.

That guy was me with fsport. It doesn't work. Only with premium and luxury.

Default A Stoo-Pid Question

I have a dumb question: What's the purpose of the smart card above and beyond what the included key fobs don't do? A thinner size so it can fit in a wallet or something?

Yeah this is what I was told from Sewell, I have dealt with my parts guy and he is trying to order it but it cancels the order for my car.

It's basically the ability to have the smaller size card that can fit in your wallet and not have to carry the key. It's more for looks and showing off than actual usability.

Thanks for the info! It's still immensely amusing to me everytime I drop off my car anywhere how few people know what the card is for, even Lexus employees.

Jason – presently we have removed the Smart Access card from our site in lieu of a change or possible change to such option. For now, the card is not available.

Sewell Parts Team
... interesting... I guess it doesn't work for the luxury package either?

Just a little update on those smart card keys. Apparently Lexus has released a new version for the F-sport models.

I had mine programmed on Monday. Everything works just fine (just like our reg. fob keys...minus the buttons, since there's none to push)

My apologies, forgot to get the new part number. (Security card is there just for size comparison)
