Tech stream remote start
Yes there is a way to do it. I just did it a few days ago. You'll need a tech stream data cable along with a laptop that has it on it text me that is.. and you'll need to purchase one of the remote start kits from local Lexus dealer.. I've only used the res version but I'm pretty sure that res plus is pretty similar.
I did a lot of digging on this and eventually did find the instruction set.. it wasn't for my car but it worked pretty much the same.
Once you have the kit go ahead and install it. Don't listen to the internet believing it's actually installed on the driver side.. because it's not. It's actually installed on the passenger side.
The other bonus about it is it's literally one connection that goes on to the car..
No moving things around just to make something fit.
It's just literally a cord a box and a cord that has to be plugged in while initiating the device..
You unplug that one once you're done setting it up..
Once you have the kit which you can find on any Lexus website by entering the year make and model of your vehicle. Going ahead and install it behind the glove box there's a plug up top closer to the center console that you'll Jack into after that install the box by mounting it somewhere. And to give it easy access to that one cable that I talked about before. It's like two cables in one basically?
Route it towards the passenger side door hanging down towards where the kicker panel is..
Once you got all that completed go ahead and reassemble outside of the kicker panel and the side paneling that's running on the bottom side of the door..
Go ahead and jack in your tech stream now because what you have to do next is pretty fast. You have 10 minutes to complete this.
Do this exactly in this order..
Open both passenger side and driver side doors
Open hood
Disconnect battery
Leave it sitting for about 2 to 3 minutes to drain the charge out of the system
Once that's completed reconnect battery. Timer Starts right now 10 minutes.
The r e s cable that you hung towards the passenger side door. connect it now
Remember to leave the hood open the entire time when doing this.
Come over to driver side seat after closing passenger door.
Close driver side door while sitting in vehicle
From the off position of the vehicle with push to start, press twice to turn on vehicle. Do not press the brake pedal when doing this.
Then cycle from off back to on four times
The total amount of presses from beginning to end on the push to start will be 14
Once you do this your hazard should flash one time
If it does flash move to the next step however if it doesn't flash unplug little connector on the passenger side. unplug the battery, and start over..
If it did flash which will be very brief start the vehicle by pressing the brake and the push to start button
Leave on for 10 seconds. This should be the total time for boot for your navigation. As a side note do not interrupt it from loading fully the first time. There's a chance you might crash your system
After running the vehicle for 10 seconds and once the navigation loads completely turn off your vehicle.
That's the first part.
My advice? Is to have techstream already open and plugged in because remember you have 10 minutes to do this and loading techstream up can take a minute or two or five sometimes..
What you want to do next is once you have it loaded and your car is connected to techstream, you want to go into the subsection called smart access
From there you'll have to go into on the left side of the options I believe it's the third one down that says something about initialize..
In front of me so I can't tell you exactly what it says but it's pretty blatant what it says.
You'll know you're in the right spot after you attempt to open it, when it gives you two options on which part you want to initialize.
Activate remote start. It will say completed.
Then shut off vehicle
Then close it out and disconnect..
After you do this.. its very important that you do this in the right order..
Open car door get out, shut car door, go to hood, and close hood....
If you blink twice.. congrats.
It's now synced and good to go..
However because of the fact I was using one of these Lexus branded remote start kits my smart remote stopped working..
Temporarily. I had to go back using tech stream application to reinitialize my remote. It's in the same smart access section.. play with the options but just make sure don't delete them all because you have the option in there to do that too..
Tinkering with it somehow reengages it somehow..
I did this in a 2014 ES 350..
I'm guessing that the procedures explained here will be pretty close to what you have to do..
Some things might change though depending upon make modeling year but I'm pretty sure that the es series is identical like the Avalon is.. I can imagine the GS series being much different nor the is series.
The year though? Does make a difference. It has to do with the series or the generation whichever you want to call it..
So good luck to you all and enjoy this information it took me two weeks to put together through trial error and nearly ripping my hair out because of the fact I thought I just bought $200 worth of junk..
Now the Lexus system does come with a couple drawbacks..
One? You've literally got the range of the remote.. it's great for say turning your vehicle on say from your apartment or from your house while still inside.
However if you were stay at your job and want to walk up to your car with it on ready to go? That's not going to be happening.. not unless you get the res Plus system.
Because then you get the app..
I can't tell you I'm not paying a single thing or that I pay a Lexus dealership outside of parts for anything
Works with my smart fob and I've had no complaints. Outside that range.
Also? What everybody says is true.. as soon as you get near that door handle with your hand it kills the engine..
There is a bypass module that you can install for the system. I have not done it as of yet but I may do it in the future I don't know yet..
Other than that y'all have a great New Year..
-sidenote- this was communicated using voice to text. I wasn't about to write all this.
The good news is when using voice to text is that most of the times any mistakes are usually understood easier if passage is read out loud. The context somehow fits.
Good luck and may the swartz be with you...
(You may need it. ..lol)

Techstream? That's fully depricated. The new tool is GTS+, but it's not new, it's been around for nearly a year now. Also - you did this with a 2014 ES? What makes you believe this will work for a 2016+ GS F?
Sometimes models overlap with the way things are initiated for programming, especially if their generations are build around the same time. Sometimes they keep the same access available also, though they may not say anything about it also.
It's worth a shot.. You'll need to use the jumper pin in the fuse box under the hood to access the protocol for updating hardware in the ecu. Should be a blank fuse in the lid of the panel. The spot differs on the model. At that point you can plug up to the obd2 with a techstream, and see what's available. If you have the Lexus module and have it connected up, it should show.. If the 2 systems communicate.
I used a basic tablet and a downloaded version (v18) of techstream to do this. Took a few tries but yeah.. It worked..
Worse case scenario, is that nothing happens.. You'll know it's not compatible if the remote starter isn't recognized by the service.
The flashers will blink if you've done the step you're doing properly, just like with every other programming option that's been done with toyota/lexus over the years.
The connector where you hook it into, is above the glove box, bundled into a group of wires around the center vents. Just a plug that goes nowhere...
There's another that I found in the kick panel that isn't hooked to anything also, but I have no idea what that's to.. Haven't looked into it as of yet.
I just know that Lexus is famous for preinstalling all the equipment for their addons, and all it's missing typically is the control box, a jumper wire or cable, and a way to activate it.. Software mostly..
Good luck with it..

Everything you say here makes zero sense, especially for the GS line. There is zero overlap between the ES models and the GS models. I have access to GTS+ legitimately and I don't see what you are seeing at all.
you can do it but you do need the lexus remote start ecu and then it can be initialized. Outside of that you cannot remote start it without Enform. However I have successfully outfitted my 2016 GSF with an 18+ Telematic Unit that was from a wrecked GSF that was scrapped. It does take some work, but it can be done. I can fully control my 2016 GSF thru Enform using the Lexus App. I'm working with ZFreak who is ALL Things F - by ScottHD @ALLTHINGSF I am working with him on the process of which i'm fairly sure he will produce a video showing just what went into it. @ZFreak
maybe even a video of us talking about the project.
