Default Climate control defaults to Auto

I've got a problem that just popped up 2 weeks ago for my 2016 GSF. When I start the car after it has sat for a long time it defaults to Auto and the climate controls are unresponsive for about 15 seconds. Then it comes on as AC on, Auto on and foot vent active. The Auto heated seats is not remembered. It used to save all my previous settings before I shut off the car, now it defaults to this.

I have done a search in the GS IS forums and read all the posts. It seems to be a common issue. However, I dont have any clicking or gerbil sounds from the servo gears. I have tried disconnecting the battery, played with all the menu settings, checked all the fuses, checked and cleaned the cabin filter. I can see both flaps open and close normally when I switch from recirculation and vented air. I have no issues with heat or AC on drivers and passengers vents.

I dont really want to take apart the glove box unless I know what I'm looking for but I can, even though things look and sound normal so far. It seems to be an electrical gremlin, possibly due to cold weather we have now. It's annoying, but once the car warms up or starts from warm everything operates normally.

Aside from taking it into the dealer and possibly costing lots of $$, have any of you had this problem or have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Default

Fixed it by lowering the smog sensitivity level to the lowest in the menu. Problem went away on cold starts now. Could be a faulty or dirty sensor, or just dirty humid air.
