I took my car in a year or so ago to my local Lexus dealer and got the car serviced and oil changed. I did the full synthetic rather than the synthetic blend. The service rep that I had at the time said that with it being full synthetic and our cars taking 10 quarts of oil that I would be fine to go 10,000 miles between changes. I went back in a couple weeks ago and got the oil changed with the same full synthetic but I have a new service rep and he was saying that it still needs to be changed every 5,000 miles. What are some of your thoughts because there is clearly not a definitive answer from the service department.
Scheduled Maintenance Log starts on page 48. Whatever is written here typically overrides whatever maintenance schedule any dealer "suggests" since this is what Lexus the car manufacturer suggests. I personally go every 5k
The service manual says 5k so you'll have to do 5k anyway. With a full synthetic blend you would probably "be okay with" 10k miles. You wouldn't want to miss any service intervals now, would you?
Just because you can go every 10K doesn't necessarily mean you should. I drive my cars spiritedly but responsibly, and change oil every 5-6K. Cheap insurance and gives me a reason to check on things while I'm under there.
