Every 5K miles or 6 months, whichever is sooner.

You mean like this?

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-uoa-here.html

Or this?

The IS F had lots of extended intervals. The downside is iron track mileage. Iron is abrasive. Running extended intervals does actually wear the engine faster and it will lose power sooner than if you use shorter intervals. That said, it's still going to be a long time before it's noticeable unless use a watch and a timed course.

Thanks for all the feedback. Given the info I think I'll split it down the middle and do every 7,500 miles on the full synthetic. If I drove my car hard then I'd think differently but my car is in Eco Mode 99% of the time with kiddos in the back so it doesn't see over 3,500 RPM's much.

I am an outside rep that deals with a
lot of independent garages. I have asked this repeatedly to them over the years. All say 5k on the oil. Also, most not all recommend full synthetic causes it flows much better. Independents
say its selling feature going 10k to 15k ,
less maintenance.

I heard the guy that is the head for Hot Shot Secret an addictive for diesel fuel injectors on the radio. He is a chemist and says the same thing how
full synthetic flows better and run a
by pass filter you will eliminate almost all engine
wear.
The newer cars are higher compression and
a lot tighter tolerances. You need a free
flowing oil.
Porsche has an IMS bearing issue with the pre
2006 Boxsters. They recommended 15k using Mobile1. They now recommend 5k between oil changes to eliminate IMS bearing failure.

I change mine at 6k. I reset my trip odometer every time. I run Mobil1. I do it myself like the guy above says look around while your down there. Had wife take an old car we had to a Lube Center. They were Jiffy quick, however they put the
wrong filters on an was leaking a pencil thickness out.

My company used to run Schaffer oil. Extremely expensive and was going like 40k between oil changes. Had a discussion with our Fleet Manager had the same opinion I had. How about the filter? Is it good
for 40k? I dont think so.

Like the man above says, “cheap insurance”, but real good. It’s all about those fluids, fluids, fluids.

Best wishes All
Bond

Is that from experience, or just speculation? I had an oil change at Wal-Mart with Mob 1, and it was still around $115.

770-988-6331 is the telephone number to the Cobb county GA Toyota dealership that performed my oil change on 9-4-19. I paid $58 with taxes included
For I believe 9.4 quarts of mobile 1 5W30 synthetic oil.

I know everything state is different, but $115+ for an oil change on an "F" car is highway robbery.
If you're a vet, Toyota gives 10% off you're bill. I got a $5 credit off my bill so would have been $63.

Wow, that's a good deal. The Lexus dealership in Houston doesn't even use Mobile 1. They use the Lexus/Toyota brand synthetic. I'll have to check with the Toyota dealership. It's almost next to the Lexus dealership.

You guys know you can buy your own oil and bring it to the dealer right? i been doing this for years, they only charge me for the filter and the labor, like $50. I never trust what they use because dealers buy their oil in Bulk.. I just goto Walmart and buy what i want and then take it to the dealer. OR I change the oil myself if i have the time..

I did this with my Supra. I got their Pennzoil dino oil when I gave them Red Line 10w30. Engine varnish where none existed in 5k miles. Never again.

best practices is probably in between 6500 and 7500 with full synthetic and highway drivng

alot of city diving 5k is a great point to change..

the main point is synthetics are not breaking down at 7500 but going 10k on a oem filter without upgrading to a better filter is the issue

good luck

Not debating a point of view just simply offering up my regular practice; i.e. factory recommendation - dino oil, 5K miles @ NTB with a coupon for $47.

At a 5k interval, dino seems more than adequate at a great price point.

Though...I would be interested in understanding why Lexus didn't spec synthetic and/or synthetic with a longer change interval. Hmmm - there's got a be a reason?

Ditto. Why Lexus specify Dino?

They don't specify conventional or synthetic. The owner's manual says Toyota 5w-30 or equivalent. Nothing more.

None of the dealers will put this oil in your car unless you specifically ask for it. They buy oil in bulk on a contract to reduce operating costs. They also are notorious for overfilling these vehicles. I drained out 2.5 quarts to get the oil level to the top mark on the dipstick after Lexus serviced the car. It was the last time they changed my oil.
