Turn your volume up to 35 and blast EDM or idk, Motley Crue. Listen to the vocals.

Turn off the surround and I've noticed that bass and mid goes up, but the treble/vocals I can hear behind me as well.
Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I agree with this statement and that's how it sounds in my GSF. Majority of the high sound is coming from the front center dash and the sound form the door speakers are much lower. Is this normal of the ML system?

i completely agree. That is why I always turn off the surround sound mode. The music is less processed and more balance.

The effectiveness of a sound system is very car dependent. For example, I have a high-end system consisting of a Denon DCT-1 head unit, Helix DSP Pro, multiple Brax Matrix MX4 amplifiers and speakers/sub in my M3 show car and it sounds no better than the ML system in my GSF because my M3 is a convertible and too darn loud.

IMHO the ML system in the GSF is very decent for daily use. It's much easier to experience SQ at home than in a moving object that's designed to carry people around.

The ML system in the 2007-2011 GS is better than the 13-15 and 16-19 GS

I think the ML system sounds great, it feels like being at a concert depending on the music quality of what your listening to. I’ve had aftermarket subs and components in most of my previous cars and this is the first car where I honestly am fine with leaving it alone. I tweaked the levels to my liking and let it rock at 35 unless I want to hear my exhaust a little bit.

agreed, the ML system is pretty good. Yea the LS reference system is much better so is the LX but for this car the ML is decent. I wish it had double pane front windows though like the Canadian versions.

Honestly the ML system is not bad. The amp and component is great, but the speaker itself sucks.

a quick upgrade on speakers is a world of difference for them.

I always turn the surround off. The sound is very imbalance.

Another update.

Upgraded the Focal system from 2 way to 3 way.

Sound separation is wayyy better than before.

I'll bite. Which model Focals, where did you put them, and is this from driver perspective or overall sound quality in the car perspective? Looking to do something similar.

They are the Focal 165KX2 3 way. Both front seat sounds amazing now. It is well worth the upgrade for me.

the 3rd speaker is located at the pillars, you should be able to see them on the picture.

165KX2 is a two way. Do you mean the 165KX3? There are three separate speakers for the KX3, only two for the KX2.

Ah yes sorry. I had the KX2 before, and I bought a conversion kit and had the shop converted it into a 3 way.

I didn't feel like to spend another 3g, instead 1.5g Canadian. I don't need the KX2 in the back seats.
