Default Mark Levinson on the GSF

Does anyone find the speakers for the Mark Levinson a disappointment?

I know I am a bit of an audiophile,. I have spend the last 6 months in the car trying to accept the system, but I cant't stand it anymore.

I called my car audio guy and he suggested the Focal es 165krx2 speakers and it should fix it all up.

Does anyone else find the speakers really bland? I wonder would modding the speakers void the warranty?

GSF ML sucks compared to my 2007 GS350 ML system. My 2007 sounded much better

Well I use to be a DJ, and familiar with high end club audio equipment. My hearing also sucks.

No complaints about the ML. Definitely better than the audio system on my GTR and 650i.

No complaints here, but I'm not an audiophile and I'm coming from a Subaru WRX which had a terrible sound system!

I haven't heard the ML system curious to hear how much better it is over the basic one.

Coming from a Harman Kardon system in a Merc CLS, the ML sound quality is about the same but the dB output is greater.

It's certainly acceptable for my preferences...

Best,
Eric

I listen to a lot of music and have had the car for about 1 year now. I like the ML system but think it lacks a little in the bass department. I’ll have to double check but I think the JBL system in my brothers 2009 Camry may have more bass.

Does the 350 have ASC? The ASC speaker is in the same place as the subwoofer, and it's not a small speaker at all. If I wanted more bass, I'd probably look into wiring a speaker in the ASC's spot and ditching the ASC speaker because I turn it off all the time anyway.

I was initially disappointed with the ML system. I owned a 2006 GS with ML and a 2015 GS-350 F Sport with ML and now a 2016 GS F. I have to say that my conclusion is that this system is not forgiving to music that is simply not mixed - mastered correctly. Listen to high quality songs and it may change your mind.

Not surprised here...

Installed the new Focal 165KX2 @ UltraAutoSound for $2000 CDN and the ML system came ALIVE!!!

Prior to the install I went to two Audiophile stores and they had the same opinion about the ML system. Great components but terrible speakers.

Therefore I decided to install the Focals only without upgrading the AMP and cables. The results were mind blowing!!!

I would highly recommend everyone to do some research and swap the ML speakers for immersive sound. The Original Amp and cables are amazing as ML is known for components but they use cheap speakers.

Here are some pictures:
