Default Exhaust research - minimal Drone

Hi all,

Looking for some input and suggestions for betting an aftermarket system for my 14 RWD F-Sport. I am wanting something louder than stock, but not willing to have excessive drone from 1000-2500RPM. I drive the family around and can't have the exhaust be an annoyance, but would love something that sings when I open it up. I understand this is hard to get perfect, but would like something balanced. Mellow but audible at lower RPMs and loud and roudy up top.

I've read a couple threads and Tanabe is too close to stock and Joe-Z sounds too loud. Test drove a GS with Invidia Mid-pipes and catback and was too loud/drone-y.

I've YouTube'd everything I can find on both IS and GS platforms and have a few questions.

1. Any experience with the Borla S-Type system? Drone?
2. Any other combinations of Mid-pipes and Cat-back systems fit what I'm looking for?
3. Does stock mufflers + Mid-pipes work?

Thanks

Customers actually love the Borla ones that we have sold.

After dozens of videos, car meets, and questions, I'm picking up the Tanabe Medallion cat-back later this Spring. I love the mild tone it has when doing its thing, but LOVE the sound it makes when I need to pass an ***-hat in the left lane. #winning

Your best bet is to get a ride in as many possible combinations as possible. Check out local car meets and see / hear what you find.

Yeah my cars and coffee has 1 other Lexus so that's not gonna happen .

I've heard videos of the Tanabe but all I hear is the intake whine. Exhaust should be louder than the engine or at least matched.

The Tanabe Medallion is actually just an axle back so with the stock mid pipe, it isn't that loud. I have the Invidia mid pipe and Joe Z axle back, and I believe that is not what you're looking for.

Tanabe Medallion sounds like this. No sound generator either.

Umm...this is the best sounding Tanabe video I've seen. Do you have any other mods? End of the video sounds like a waste gate

RR Racing Supercharger
PPE Headers/Invidia Mid-pipe/Tanabe Medallion Touring Axle-Back

Took a bit to get the fueling right but now it is a beast.
