Default CD Changer

I was told at the dealer that my car has a 6-disc CD changer. For the LIFE of me, I cannot find it.

Not unless it was an aftermarket install. I don't believe Lexus ever offered a changer on the 4GS. I highly suspect your dealer was incorrect.

The GS was offered from the factory with a CD changer for the 2GS and 3GS. No CD changer for the 4GS. You do have the single disc CD player though:

The surround sound and ML really pops when playing a DVD movie. Just like in a theater.

My old Camry had the factory in-dash nav with 5 CD changers and it was really cool seeing how the display folds out to reveal the CD opening. But some people reported that it keeps eating their CDs and all got stuck inside.

Oh the early 2Ks with their fancy techs. Now all we got is ipads on dash.

Thanks, everyone. Mine looks just like the pic that was uploaded. Even my 2009 Caddy STS-V had a 6-disc changer. CD/DVD player as well. I'm bummed....again.....

They've largely stopped putting in the changers in pretty much every car as people just use streaming music now.

I don't think I have ever put a disc in mine since I got it. People still use 💿?

I did use mine and left it in there for a while and the CD player went bad. Ever since I got the replacement head unit, I never used it again except to test it last time.

I heard DVD Audio is the best to get the most sound out of the ML system. Is this true?

Not the format of DVD-A that came and went in the early 2000’s, the Lexus does not play that. Maybe you mean a non Blue-ray DVD disc. Have not tried one in it yet. My 2011 Acura RDX had the DVD-A format, so I actually do have about 10 of them sitting around. Need to try and get them onto a USB stick in a format that can play on the Lexus. So many things to want to do, and so little time it seems…..

Modern cars don't have 6 disk cd changers. Most people don't use cd's anymore, old tech. We are lucky to still have a CD player in the car. That will be removed in the future like 8-track or cassette players.

Yup. My Tundra doesn't have a CD player. They deleted that from Tundras in 2019. My 2011 Tacoma had a 6 disc in-dash changer. My 2020 Tacoma didn't have any CD player.
