Mirror Glass Replacement .
So my 2013 Lexus GS350 F Sport needed the passenger mirror replaced. I originally replaced the cracked mirror with one you put over but it was not secure and shook . Anyway, I purchased one off Ebay that noted it was for the 2013 GS 350 and looked indentical in the pictures to mine (Red and Black Wiring) in lieu of the (Blue and Black Wiring). Since the new one was cracked and I had another one on the way I threw away the old one. Get the new one from Ebay and its unfortuately the Blue Wired one instead of the Red Wired one that I had. Installed it and while it works great the BSM throws the error. I read reviews of users who swapped out the folding mirrors and how they had to switch the Red/Black wire for the BSM to work on the newer 2014 Folding Mirror. My question is could I splice the blue to black and black to blue wire on this mirror I have and get the BSM working instead of sending this one back? Took me a while to find one for my 2013 that matched and now am back to looking for one. Anyone have any thoughts. New one seems to run around $320, crazy expensive. Or if someone has one PM me and let me know, would be a lifesaver to be able to buy one.
I figured I need the one with the Red/Black wire since the Blue/Black wired model seems to be for the 2014 Plus mirrors. For the mod to put the folding 2014 Mirrors on the 2013 Model I saw that the Red/Black Mirror wire had to be spliced in reverse. Just was curious if the Blue/Black 2014 Wire could be spliced to work on my 2013 with BSM. A new Mirror replaceement runs around $320 which I really want to avoid but do like the BSM so wanted to retain that if possible. If anyone as an old 2013 Red/Black wired mirror please let me know!

You can remove the BSM light, wires/board from the original 2013 mirror and transplant it to the replacement. I did this when I replaced my side mirror. 2013 doesn't have rear cross traffic alert so the led/board for the BSM light is different.

Unfortunately I was not aware of the difference in the 2013 and 2014 so when I found the one on ebay with the Red Wire mathcing exactly what my broken one had I tossed the old one. Trust me I never would have done this if I knew all this! So now my only option is to find a resonalbly priced replacement Mirror with backing or live without BSM. Gonna post a Wanted on the forum to see if anyone has a 2013 Red WIre BSM Autodim one laying around I can buy for a reasonable amount. in the meantime I am going to buy a standard non BSM one off ebay with backing for $20 and live without the BSM. Let me know if you know anyone that may have one available, the junkyards typically don't sell the glass with backing only and WAY overcharge for the mirror assembly. Thanks for replying!!!

Is it impossible to get this feature on my 13.
Would you say it's safer to purchase a set of 15 folding mirrors, vs 14 which might not fold.

"Is it impossible to get this feature on my 13." You would have to change the entire systems, sensors in the trunk and the ecu. Fold/not folding has nothing to do with BSM.
You have a broken 2013 mirror, much easier to take it apart and swap the wire/led/board for the BSM light.
See below what I marked in red, it's around the entire mirror. If you separate it at the red points around the entire mirror. The entire plastic backing on the mirror will come off.
Then you can easily take off what I marked in yellow. That's the wires/connection/led/board for the BSM light. You can separate the 2014 mirror and transplant the 2013 BSM light/wire/board into it. It was a 10 minute job for me, not hard at all.
I had to cut and flip the wiring on the 2014 mirror to get fix the BSM error when I swapped my mirror to power folding ones. This only works if both mirrors are wired the same way with same circuit/led light. For OP he will still have BSM error flipping wires if both mirrors are different years.

Wow. This is why I am waiting to replace my outside mirror covers where the paint started peeling off. I have the parts, but don’t feel like running into trouble taking the mirror parts off in Florida in the summer. Now, there are wires and BSM lights and all sorts of stuff to worry about if I somehow crack this mirror piece when removing. You all are killing me. Or Lexus is. I remember my father saying he bought a mirror for $5 with two screws and bolted it into his truck door. When life was simpler and much less expensive I guess. Keep the posts coming.
