Default Confused - should remote start work ootb?

I have a 16' GS-350 F-Sport. When I had the free trial of Enform when the car was new , remote start worked. Now that I do not have Enform should remote start still work from fob? I tried pressing the lock key twice, and then third time hold but nothing happens?

That only works if you have factory installed remote start.

The key fob remote start won't work without an active Enform subscription. I won't bother with a subscription now since the 3G service from Verizon, AT&T and T-mobile will come to an end this year. Your only work around is an aftermarket module like MPC that retains the factory key fob remote but bypasses all the Enform system.

That’s weird because many CL members have described their remote start still working with the fob after their enform expired. I have a 2014 ES350, I installed the Lexus OEM RS Kit, it was a heck of a deal last February from Bell Lexus, $60.00. I have techstream and registered it after install, very simple. For the price I’m very happy with it. I know some members were trying to figure out a way to activate it but haven’t heard of any success for anyone who has tried.

I don't think the 2014 ES has Enform Remote service. It may have basic Enform but the Remote start back then was independent from the Enform suite.

I read that you installed the RS kit. Those are independent from Enform.

MX———that is what I was implying, I did not have RS+, that’s the system with the enform app. I was told by Lexus that the kit I bought only works on 2013-2014. I’ve seen several posts on CL about members with cars later than 2014, ie 2015 and on where their enform expired and the remote start still worked using the fob. Lexus says the ability to remote start is already built in to models later than 2014, so 2015 and on, with the active enform subscription the fob feature is activated, many members said that function remained after the enform expired.

Does it have navigation? I maybe wrong here. The Lexus Enform were only equipped on Nav vehicles. All the documentation I seen from Lexus shows that Remote Start is part of the Lexus Enform system for 2018.

Enform Remote became standard starting in the 2015 model year, and is subscription based. The key fob start would be deactivated if you didn't have a current subscription.

Toyota/Lexus changed this in either 2018 or 2019, where the fob start would work without an active subscription. I think they've gone back and forth on this a couple times now so I honestly don't know where it all stands now. I have a subscription on my GS and my Tundra, so they both work with the app or with the fob. My parents have a 2019 RAV4 and they let the subscription lapse about 2 years ago, but the fob start still works. I recently tried it out on my sister's Highlander, which is a 2020. She also ditched her subscription but her fob still works.

Toyota made a decision this past week to reverse course on making remote start via the key fob a subscription. That is for the Toyota brand but I haven't heard anything on the Lexus side.

My fob doesn't start the car after the Enform trial ended. I didn't renew it.

Ok, good info. So I think it was for 2019 that they changed it so the fob would work without a subscription. At least I know they did for Toyota, so I am assuming the same for Lexus (which may indeed be a poor assumption).

My 14 RX has the fob remote start and had the trial Enform I think, can't remember now. It has the sticker under the hood that remote start was installed but I'm curious as to what is installed on it vs. my GS that doesn't have a fob remote installed?!
