I have been looking around and only found a thread about this for the IS model. I think 2nd gen.

I have a 2013 GS350 with headlight washers.
I want to disable the link between headlight washers and windshield washers so that they don't come on together. I just want the link gone but be able to operate them independently.

I guess my main concern is Ice and snow preventing them from popping up and breaking them. Then I saw on an Audi forum that theirs are operated by the washer fluid pressure and can't really break. Is this the same for us?

Anyone know a way to do this?

 

I am not sure how you can control both washers independently. If you want to disable the link completely though, I would imagine the EASIEST method would be to simply pull the fuse that controls the headlamp washer.

I tried to Google fuse box diagrams and compare to my own vehicle (GS450h), but they look nothing alike, so I don't want to misguide you. Perhaps someone here can share the fuse diagram if you wish to go this route.

My 2013 (Luxury Trim)has an independent push button switch for this.
No link exists.
Are you sure you don't have a switch on the left dash?

 

I do have an independent button that I can use and only the headlamp washer will come on. If I use the windshield washer then both activate.
(With the headlights on)

 

Yes that’s how it’s designed to work. Not sure why it matters having it work another way.

 

Some people don't like the water spots but I don't want them to get jammed up with ice and break.

I don't understand why Lexus couldn't let us decide for ourselves.

 

I've had mine frozen over driving in a snow storm, can confirm they did not break. Lexus has had headlight washers for a very long time and never heard of them breaking from this scenario. I'm sure they have been designed for that to not break. I think they just pop up on water pressure alone from a motor or pump.

Only thing I can think of is running a kill switch to the headlight washer pump/motor to disable it completely when you don't want it. I think the signal that activates it is CAN bus driven.

 

I used to have a 2013 Lux. I also had the independent push button, but I am pretty sure the headlight washers activated with every 5th spray of the windshield washers, when the headlights were on. Can’t test it because I don’t have the 2013 anymore. Maybe you can test it and let us know, but I’m pretty sure that’s how it worked.

My 2017 has headlight washers, but no independent push button to activate them.
