Default Reverse cam on split screen infotainment

Sup everyone, hope ya'll staying healthy and safe out there. Quick question about the reverse cam. I recently noticed that when in reverse, the cam shows up split screen on the infotainment. Has it always been like that? I'm pretty sure its been full screen. I can't disable this feature or get it back to full screen. Am I missing something here. Stupid question I know, but just wondering how to change this back. Thanks

You know....I thought the exact same thing and thought I was imagining it. I looked and didn't see a setting for it, I thought maybe I hit something without realizing it - hopefully one of our resident geniuses on here can give us the definitive answer....

davian112 - yours is a 2016+ correct? (mine is)

That's the way it is from the factory. Wish there was a full screen setting.

So I did a quick google and at very least davian112 and I seem to not be the only ones who swear we've seen a full screen rear view camera. I feel a little better knowing that if I imagined it - many others have too so I'm not completely weired....

My 2013 is full screen, only because I have an alpine backup camera hooked up to my Carlinkit, also my head unit and screen is from a 2016.

GSboy you are correct! I believe it was full screen. I also did research couldn’t find anything on it but someone on the IS forum disconnected their battery which helped them. Don’t know if I’m going to go that route. Need to do more research. Don’t want to mess anything up in terms of settings.

Yeah - I saw that one in the IS forum - a lot of other chatter out there about this over a number of years.

If you do the battery thing just make sure to read about it - vaguely remember some threads on here talking about other strange things happening if the car looses power for too long (as in when folks replaced batteries). Again - I'd defer to the folks who have done a lot more on these cars than I have to chime in.

I was playing with a few things - and I also couldn't seem to find the full screen navigation option (which it talks about in the brochure and has a picture of). Not sure if this has something to do with it but I vaguely remember seeing that icon but it doesn't seem to be there now - but I'll admit - I didn't spend a lot of time looking today.

The 4GS does not have factory full screen backup camera for any year and there is no setting for it.

No, it's normal like that, there is no full screen backup cam on the GS and Peasodos doesn't count, his GS is not a GS anymore.

Thats so wierd, i was literally just thinking this yesterday! I guess us gs owners are synchronised? Anyway, mine is split screen as well, not sure why, but it is. Im thinking something to do with the programming resolution being the same as the smaller screen model and its just easier this way.

It's simple, this is because Lexus always goes 1 step forward and 2 step backwards.

I think there are enough reports that there's definitely something going on ....otherwise we're all in the matrix and we just took the wrong pill.

You all are hilarious. With everything going on an such, this is the sticking question to get resolved. I mean this in a good way. Like a Seinfeld episode where there is a major storm coming, and the cast is hammering on about life in bizzaro world or something. Can’t wait for the conclusion at season end.
