Hi gang
recently my clock started to run fast. I am one of those who looks at it often so the fact that it is never right bothered me. I am not sure about spending money on the OEM clock, especially since it can also go bad. I figured just paste a stick on clock on there, but it stuck out 1/2 an inch and looked so wrong. So I decided to fit it in the plastic of the original clock.
Remember, worse that can happen at this point is that the drill slides and puts a hole in the dash so be careful. Also ideally you dont accidentally scratch the plastic surround in case you have to go to backup plan which is to buy a dealer clock.
Using a dremel style tool and a sanding attachment, i enlarged the hole. Tape to protect the plastic edge.
Wow that looks crappy/cheap compared to oem and you totally showed the original clock who's boss .
Does this aftermarket clock light up at night?
I do admire your guts/ingenuity. On the bright side you could still swap out the oem clock with a new or used one and you didn't botch up the center dash vent trim.

Yeah.....there is no lighting on it whatsoever. Its not good LOL. The only thing you see at night is the perimeter of the original clock and a total darkness of this clock. And yes, swapping another clock fixes everything
You just lost $1k in value simply by doing that. Sorry man but that looks terrible and ruined it, I would have rather left it alone.
It's totally reversible in that he could eventually buy a new or used clock and swap it out. He only destroyed the clock part. Until he replaces it I think this was a clever in between solution. I personally could no do it myself and surprised the entire plastic he drilled into didn't crack/shatter.
But more seriously, anyone else getting these run away clocks? Mine is doing it. If there's a 'how to' for the clock removal please steer me in the correct direction.
Hit me up peasodos. I took out the radio before, cant recall if the vent was part of that. Anyway, I am sure I can figure it out
Once you take the radio out, the center vent trim is just clipped in, just pops out, and then the clock is just held in with a few plastic tabs. Attached are the instructions to remove the clock from the FSM.
I'm just waiting for part of the 2016 center vent trim to come in, should be here in the next few days.
So far I made/prewired a harness for the 2016 clock. Once i get the vent trim I'm going to wire it up and should work. I'll let you know when I get this working. Some Russian guy on drive.ru did it so I know it's possible
