Hi guys! I have a question... so when I first got my GS (in October) I noticed that the navigation would show me the status of the highway, like green for good traffic, yellow and red. The car no longer shows that. Also, at the same time, my XM Satellite radio trial expired. Are the two connected? I bought the car from a Hyundai dealership. I just recently hit 70,000 miles... does that have anything to do with it? I really liked the highway info--it was really helpful.
For vehicles equipped with navigation, allow digital traffic and weather information is received from both HD radio stations and cellphone networks using your smartphone that’s connected to the Lexus Enform system. For vehicles without navigation, your display audio system provides the free information via HD radio stations nationwide but must be in a HD radio market otherwise you won't see any traffic or live updates. It has nothing to do with SXM radio subscription. For example this is how you also get the 3D maps and will only work with markets that have HD radio towers nearby....which i mostly major cities.

We've got two opinions, HD and XM. Objectively, I'd say that because the XM expired the same time as traffic update ended leads to it likely being XM. Contact XM, they will usually agree to a basic service at $5/month. Don't know if that includes traffic, but it's a place to start.
HD traffic is worthless on my '15. The delay is horrible I never get accurate traffic report in LA area. Got GROM now so much better with Google Maps and Waze.
When we had our 13 RX, which got traffic and weather from XM, we subscribed to a minimum package that XM offered. It was only a few dollars a month and only included the traffic and weather, but no music. Not sure if they still offer that.
The GS didn’t get HD Radio traffic/weather until the 2015 model year. The subject car here is a 2014 so he needs a satellite subscription.
That's correct. My 2010 IS350 has Nav but doesn't have HD radio, so I can only get traffic if I subscribe to XM with extra few bucks for Navistar. My 2016 RCF has both Nav and HD radio, so I get free traffic from Lexus. However, you get what you pay for. Lexus traffic sucks. It's at least 1/2 hour behind while Navistar is about 15 minutes. Both don't have street traffic either. So I rely on Google Map for my commute because it's faster and has streets.
