Thanks. I’m the second owner of a 2013 lux. yes, the speedo area. It seems like it resets when I reset trip A. I don’t drive like a maniac or anything, but I generally try to leave traffic behind if I’m in front at a light. It kind of makes sense that with such a heavy car, constantly accelerating and stopping at all the stop signs and short blocks here, up steep hills and in traffic, would be very deleterious to mpg. I’ve never gotten the epa city rated fuel economy on any car I’ve owned, usually More like 75 or 80%, but the gs has been a bit worse than that. Again, I don’t know how accurate the mpg calculation in the gauge cluster is.
I did a little testing with mine (definitely not exactly scientific) in terms of which way I commuted home. One way was a series of more gradual climbs with fewer stop lights The other had a few more stop lights and but had a couple of steeper climbs. I did a tank where I tried to mostly go one route, then a tank where I went the other. I did that a few times and it seemed to make at least a 1-2 average mpg difference on a tank. Yours still seems a bit low to me - I drive similarly.. some spirited accelerations with some more reasonable driving. We too have short blocks and lights are timed horribly.
There are a few of us who have kept records of both the cars estimated mpg and the actual (manually calculating miles on the trip ODO divided by gallons during fillup) and it's not too far off but if I remember correctly, the manually calculated was just a tad worse than what the car calculated - I think roughly half an MGP. In mostly all city I'm generally getting 16 to 17 sometimes a little higher if I have a couple 5 mile stretches of open highway.
Someone pointed out that there are two settings - mines alwasy been on the "after reset" which I know is cumulative. The other I'm not sure. I asked for clarification in another post - hopefully someone can clarify.

Reason: added usual mpg and 5 mile hwy comment
I am pretty sure I could have gotten another 10-15 MPG out of the tank, but I didn't want to risk it.
Mine is a 2016 GS350 AWD.
While I wouldn't recommend - I pushed mine to what the car would consider -10...at 20 miles range is when my light comes on - I ended up needing to go another 30 to refuel. By my calc there was still another gallon+ or so in the tank but I definitely don't want to try and find that out. I was nervous enough pushing it as far as I did since I've only had the car 6 months and don't know as well as my old vehicle. Mine is a '16 GS350 F Sport AWD.
My best was 410 miles while driving to Pittsburgh from Germantown and back, almost all highway doing an average of 70 mph, but varying elevation. I am pretty sure I could have gotten another 10-15 MPG out of the tank, but I didn't want to risk it.

410 miles... How much did it take to fill up? We have a 17.4 gallon fuel tank... how close were you to being stranded I wonder?
I've always monitored the fuel light and mileage in my cars, and IIRC, the fuel light goes on at around the 14.5 gallon mark, therefore with almost 3 gallons of gas still in the tank. So at 20 MPG, I estimate about 60 miles of range still left. A useful number when you're on a long trip and trying to figure out whether to stop at the next rest area or wait until the 2nd or 3rd. Just some useless trivia and calculations to keep your mind busy while watching the asphalt go by.

If I remember correctly, I refueled close to 16.5 gallons, and that was because I like to round up my dollar amount while refueling. The best mpg I ever got out of mine is 31.1 mpg. But usually I hover around 24 mpg with mix driving.
I got my personal best 2 weeks ago. I should have taken a pic, but didn't. Never did check my average mileage either., but wound up getting to 430.2 miles on one tank.

That sound like a loooooong trip cruising at 60 mph.
Thanks for the info! Where do you change that setting? Does it magically know the car was refueled somehow or is it tied to something that has to be reset also (like the Trip ODO)? I also wasn't sure if "Since last fill up" was the same as "After Refuel" as shown in the photos in the post earlier in this thread.
You're right, I think it's "After Refuel" not "Since Last Fill Up". I haven't driven my car much lately.
On your instrument cluster display, move to Settings. Click on (I'm doing this from memory, so words may be a little off) Driver Info 1 or Driver Info 2. It'll then give you a list of items you can select from, including fuel mileage after reset, or after refuel. I have mine at after refuel.
You do not need to do anything to reset it. It automatically resets when you refuel.

Actually, only when I hit 0 miles on Range. I was about 2 miles from work, when I stopped to fill up. My 110 mile round trip to work, 5 days a week, is 85% I-84 from NY to CT, usually at 75 mph in the AM, with some "bursts" around 90. And once I exit the Interstate it's another 15 miles, on a mostly one lane, 40 mph road. So, there are days when I leave my house and don't come to a stop until I park at work. Sometimes, I catch 3-5 lights that throw me off.
Just to note, my K&N air filter had about 80k miles on it, without being cleaned. So, I replaced it with a new one in, when I started that tank of gas.

Is that mileage base mostly on freeway driving I assume?
My GS is by far the worst car I've ever had in terms of fuel mileage. I barely get 200 miles per tank.
Wow this very low. What are your driving habits? I drive aggressively in manual mode most of the time and get around 300 miles per tank. I got around the same mileage with an IS350 F Sport with the same driving style. I have gotten 365 miles in ECO auto mode in mixed city and highway driving. This was when the car was new. Probably could get close to 400 now. I would probably have the car checked out.
I get, almost pretty consistently, 260 miles on a tank. I fill up after the light comes on - sometimes it maybe 5 miles after the light comes on, other times it might be 15.
That's on AWD, which in my opinion makes a greater impact than the official numbers let on (at least for city driving). Also, my daily drives are almost all city driving. This current tank I had a couple trips around town where I was on the freeway and I'm at least 1 mpg above normal (18.4). I think if you have a decent split between hwy and city and you don't drive too aggressively too often you'll see the decent MPG numbers folks report. If you do a lot of city streets and a lot of stop and go you may be disappointed, especially if you're in an AWD.
Compared to my last car, the GS is about 600 pounds heavier, has 84 more HP, is a 3.5L v6 vs a 3.0L v6, is AWD and it's fuel tank is 1 gallon smaller. With all of that "extra" I still get about the same number of miles per tank as the old car. Is it amazing mileage no - but it's not ridiculously horrible either.
If I drive 10,000 miles a year and average around 17 miles per gallon that's 588 gallons of gas a year. If I got 21 instead of 17 that's 476 gallons - that's a difference of 112 gallons and at the current price of gas here (just over $3) wer're talking about $336/year. To have a car that I enjoy I don't care about $336/year - that's about 1.5 Starbucks a week.
When I look at it from an environmental perspective that difference represents about 2200 pounds (998 kg) of CO2/year (assuming I did my math right). Even with the extra CO2 from driving a vehicle (which gives me enjoyment), I'm still well below the average American in terms of CO2 generated per year so I'm ok with that side of it as well.
For those with significantly lower mileage - yes there very well could be something up.
My first tank of gas in my new to me ‘16 450h. Was at 340 miles driven with info saying I had 115 left. Had a 200 mile trip ahead of me so filled up. It took just over a 11 gallons, so right at 30ish mpg. I’ll take it! As a side note after my 200 mile mostly freeway road trip the gauge says I’m averaging 33.1. Not bad for setting the cruise control at 80.
First trip I did was a 6000km (3700mile) road trip, spending most of it at 110km/h or thereabouts with some occasional time up to 200ish (new car ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). Averaged 6.7l/100km, or 35mpg. The 450h is pretty good, constantly around the 7l/100km (33mpg) no matter how heavy your foot or the traffic is.
