Subwoofer box
I have a 2013 GS Lux with ML and 21K miles. Does anyone know if someone sells a subwoofer box that is ported into the old ML Sub hole in the rear shelf? I’m thinking of removing the ML Sub and having a single aftermarket sub in a box ported directly up into the old ML Sub hole. This way the sound would bounce off the rear glass and fill the cabin.
Im using a American Bass 12” XFL.
2nd Question:
Are the ML door speakers 6.5”? If I decided to replace them (they currently sound great), I heard I would need 8ohm door speakers due to the ML Amp requiring such. Is this true? Would 4Ohm door speakers hurt my AMP? I also heard the door 6.5 speakers are weirdly installed in 6x9 size baffles? Is swapping the door speakers as easy as other cars?
Thanks for the info. I have installed countless high end audio systems. I was a master installer at Best Buy when I was in college many years ago. I’m ready to upgrade the bass in my GS and I’m just gathering some info before I start. This is my first Lexus, but I remember my Mercedes had factory fiber optic cable ran to its speakers which was rediculous.
Thanks in advance!

A couple things you can do, dual 10s or 12s ported through using an aero port (check out bigassports.com) or you could also do a 4th order enclosure and have that firing into it. I would use a 6" flared port, take the stock sub and make a a template circle around that, put some foam/dampener on that, then have the 6" flare mounted on that. It should work out well and do its job very well.
Jarfunkz, that's a sleek looking build, and some serious power distribution. I don't want to hijack this thread, you should start a build thread of your own so we can ask questions!

the builder can make a port that would line up to the factory sub location but your sub would probably have to be off center
