You have to have patience when turning the black clip, its a PIA to get it turned in the exact position and release the pillar. There isn't a lot of space and there's an air bag in there along with other wires. Don't forget to disconnect your battery and have a beer close because its will probably **** you off. Its not hard to do but the part is over engineered.
If your hard wiring a radar detector or camera there are easier ways to do it.
