Default Trunk Lid

I really like gesture controlled trunk lid in my MB E350. Am I right that it's not available in GS350? I had NX300 as a loaner and it did have it.

Thank you. I wonder why Lexus does not want to add this convenient feature

Lexus seems to be late on a lot of technological advances in the car industry! From all the past posts I read, another or all luxury vehicles have the feature, while Lexus takes its sweet @$$ time on things!

Lexus is late on many things due to the fact that they put things through their paces prior to releasing them, no Tesla beta mode BS here, which is why Lexus is #1 in reliability. While they're late on many things, they also have many industry firsts under their belt, so let's play fair here.

There is an aftermarket product to add a kick sensor to any existing power trunk to open and close.

I made a post about it in the Power Trunk Retrofit thread:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...l#post10410044

I bought the kit and pretty much have all the parts needed for the power trunk mod. Plan on doing this in the spring.

power latch: $140
power trunk lift motor: $250
power trunk switch: $13
power trunk wiring harness: $50
aftermarket kick activated trunk opener kit: $109

The trunk lift motor is the most expensive part currently new one on eBay for $599, I got a good deal on it used through a junkyard(car-parts.com). I couldn't justify paying more than $500 for this mod, since that's what it costs as an option new, but if the kick sensor works, it's worth the $109 upgrade for anyone willing to tackle the mod.

Do all GS trunks remain mostly closed when you remote open it? Mine only pops up a half inch or so and you have to lift it open. My Camry really shoots open because of the spring and opens more than half way so I only have to give it a little tap to open it all the way.

Great, thank you. Look forward to it. Weather has been awful, really gotten lazy as well.

Yes, just pops up a little bit. Does not shoot open fast.

Yes, trunk spring only strong enough to pop trunk and rest it on the latch. You have to manually lift it up. Mine use to go up about an inch until I added the factory spoiler, now it basically just unlatches.
Usually I open the trunk from the button above the license plate, so I have to lift it anyway.

my '15 opens completely. I do have the power close if that makes a difference?

You have a motor in the trunk that opens and closes it. It's not a trunk spring doing the work.

Yep, the power trunk option will open it all the way up with either the trunk button in the cabin, on the trunk itself, or via key fob. I like the feature a lot.

Annoying that the key fob cannot close the power trunk, only open. They must be testing that for reliability too....lord knows what an electronic signal will do!
