Doors unlocking after engine is turned off seems the most logical. If my rear passengers try to unlock door before the driver does(after engine off), it doesn't unlock for them. Don't most people prefer that doors stay locked, while the car is in park?
There's so many instances where you'd want doors locked with engine running.
For instance: driving or parked in unsafe areas esp at night, waiting at drive thru, or waiting to pick up someone....

My Infinti unlocks doors only when ignition off and I hate it. I'd much rather doors unlock when car in Park, like my Lexus. The # of times I have to let my wife out of the car without cutting the engine far exceeds the number of times I need to wait with the doors locked in Park. In my infiniti she always pulls the door handle when I hit park, and it doesn't open. Then I gotta find the unlock button. Annoying.
