Default GS 4th generation engine history

I recently purchased a 2013 GS F Sport and i heard some chatter about the engine in these cars. Some say that this is the engine that Toyota used in some of the older Supra models. One of my good friends started driving my car on manual mode and after that he started looking for the turbo under the hood. He was very surprised to see that these cars do not have turbo charged engines. Any info about these engines would be greatly appreciated.

engine is weak. wish there was a turbo. it's just shifting and gearing. I'd prefer a v8. this engine has been around for a while. search for the engine code.

You're about 2 generations late, the 2jz was last used in 2005. My 2002 had its problems, but my god was that engine smooth

The 2GR-FSE was never used in a Supra, and these cars do come with a turbo but you'd need the GS200t.

You could always bolt-on a turbo, like this BRZ which has swapped in an IS350 engine(same as our's).

The 2JZ is an in-line 6..and was used in the supras n/a and boosted, also in older GS and IS. I had one in an IS300..never had an issue with it up to 315,000kms when I sold it. Didn't burn a drop of oil either, and it was very smooth, like an electric motor! Straight 6s are inherently like that for balance.

I believe in the older Supras, the 7M-GE (Normally aspirated) and the 7M-GTE (Turbocharged) was used in the early Supras...
