Default 235/45/19 tires?

I recently purchased a 2013 Lexus GS35 F Sport AWD and i would like to increase the height to protect my rims on the terrible Chicago streets. Currently i have 235/40/19 on the car and i would like to increase to 235/45/19. Anyone with any suggestions from past experiences? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if you can just up the profile depth as your speedometer may be off a bit but others have done this without too much issue.

My advice is that if you're going to stick with the 19's but want a meatier tire, you may have to adjust and get a slightly narrower tire--something like 225/45/19. Otherwise, you can get a set of 18' wheels and keep the 235/45.

Just as reference, the AWD GS comes with the following non-staggered OEM tire sizes:
17": 235/50/17 (Premium Models w/o Wheel Upgrade)
18" 235/45/18 (Premium & Lux Models)
19" 235/40/19 (F-Sport & 2015+ Lux Models)

235/45/19 may rub the inner wheel well liner. I have 225/45/19 for winter and they JUST clear it when the wheel is turned about 2/3 of full lock, can't even stick a finger between the tire and the liner.

I have this, so I know for sure. The info in Lexus.com is erroneous. The correct info is in the attached PDF document.

Would 245/40/19 do the trick? It's a wider tire, but it should be a bit taller as well. Am i right about this?

245/40/19 is 0.3" wider and has 0.2" more sidewall than 235/40. I'm not sure that's going to be very noticeable in terms of improvement.

just worried that the tires will rub on the inner liner. it's a tough decision to make especially if i order them online.

I went from 235/40 R19 on my 2015 GS 350 Luxury to 245/40 R19 to gain additional tire options. I had the Michelin Primacy MXM4 touring tire and switched to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Plus to gain some performance. I have no issues with rubbing and the Pilot Sport tires handle better in turns.

If your objective is to get a higher profile tire, than maybe you should consider getting a set of 18" rims. I have not hit any major pot holes, but did rub the rim on a curb soon after I purchased the car. I got the rim repaired, but I'm a lot more careful when parking now!

I'm running 245/40/19 without a drop and they do not rub. Also, even though the numbers suggest that's it's not a big difference, there is a visible difference compared to the 235/40/19 that are stock.

Thanks!! It seems like there are more options and better prices for this size too.
