Default Surface Rust on Seat Controls

I was detailing the interior of my GS yesterday and I noticed that behind the plastic controls there was a good amount of surface rust on the metal that connects the plastic to the seat. Since it's just surface rust right now I'm not overtly worried about it but it's something I'd like to keep an eye on. Does anyone else have this issue?

Yeah I meant to take a picture of it but forgot, I'll do it once I get home from work.

Is that the only place you see rust? Look under the dash around the pedals and steering column and see if there is rust on any metal parts. If so, take a pic.

Did you buy your car new? My neighbor bought a used Volvo that had an odd odor (smelled like chemicals) in it and could not get it out. He said the dealership was not very helpful. He asked me if I had an idea on the issue so I looked up under his dash and saw rust on the steering column. I told him I suspect this is a flood vehicle that made it through the totaling process with a clean title (there is a investigative show on this) and he should let the dealer know what I said and that he may have it looked at to confirm. The dealer promptly bought his vehicle back and sold him another more loaded, newer Volvo for the same price to make him happy. The newer one does not smell or have the rust....

I am not saying that is your situation since rust can come from many, many different sources and can be as simple as a spilled drink at one time or living in a very humid environment, etc.

You sure that's rust, I don't think that is rust. Looks more like a plastic connector or a grommet than rust, also not sure how it would get there. I'd try to get something that could fit there and wipe it, I'm doubting its rust. Maybe the camera focus is deceiving me too.

Those look like contact points for the seat controls, not rust.

Sorry to hijack this thread but has anyone looked at the brackets holding the amp in the trunk, mine are somehow rusted eventhough there is definitely no moist or leakage to be found.

My seat controls match these, I do not think it is rust.
