Default Unwanted seat movement.

Recently Ive noticed that during hard breaking my seat kinda nudges forwards at the base a little. All of the seat controls still function perfectly (with the exception of the seat memory buttons) so maybe something just need to be tightened up a bit?

Thanks.

Talking Same Problem!

I have the same exact problem and could never figure out how to remedy this. It MAY be another Lexus inherent design defect.

I have had the thing apart, tightened up the worm gear and anything else that looked loose, but it still does the same thing.

Being large-r (6-2 205) may have some bearing on this. As you know, this car accomodates the "slighter" bodies and does not fit the bigger folks well.

If anyone else has this problem, and has been successful in dealing with it, those of us who have this issue would greatly appreciate it.

i had the same problem...the seat is coming apart...but its just a screw, ill try to take a pic of it and post it..really nothing serious, it will get worse until the screw comes out....when it does you will know..lol...look under the seat track that is closest to the door (drivers side)...you will see in the back of the seat a small screw...ill try to post pics to be more specific...

Great info CEO, it sounds like you fixed it already. Does it just need to be tightened to fix the issue?

I think pics with an arrow will help everybody find it.

Exclamation BTW

CEO,

The drivers seat on the 400 is different than the passenger side (which you are likely aware of).

On the driver's side, there is a black plate with two philips head srews which retains a worm gear gizmo with a lock nut on it. This is where the "slop" appears to be comming from in my case. I tried to re-adjust the lock-nut on the worm gear gizmo without any results.

If it is a simple as tightening up a nut, that would be great, but I tightened the crap out of evey srew and nut when I re-upolstered the seat. It seems to be related to the worm gear gizmo plate, but there are no service instructions in the two volume service books (naturally).

I have my fingers crossed that it was something I missed that you found...

So weird, I was thinking about posting something this morning about this. I'm by no means a big guy, (5'8", 150) so that rules out the large person cause! It almost seems like on mine the back of the seat is coming up during braking, though it is likely that it's moving forward as well. Well, just another post to let you know that you're not alone!

Question

CEO,

Nope, everything looks like new.... that's why I can't figure this out.

It has done it since I bought it and was going to replace the "innards" with a used seat, but I have had hassles trying to get a used one, and if I do, it may have the same problem.

It is weird...
