Can anyone tell me what this black tape is for?


What about the circle thingy inside the gas cap? What goes in there?

 

The black tape might be a RFID tag for dealer info. Some dealers have that so owner and car info will be pulled up as soon as you drive into to the service bay.

The "circle thing" is used for holding the gas cap, instead of letting it dangle like that. The white portion of the gas cap goes on it.

 

The circle thing by the gas cap is for you to place your gas cap on so you don't leave it dangling and scratch your car.
