Default TPM Sensor Problem on New Wheels

Hi Guys, I finally pulled the trigger last month and bought a set of GS350 F Sport wheels with new tires on ebay from a company called Detroit Tire and Wheel. The wheels are a black chrome finish and I absolutely love how they look.

The problem is, they installed TPM sensors that apparently are not pre-programmed. So when I went to my local shop for them to link them to my car, each sensor apparently is showing as the same number and "duplicate sensor" comes up on the TPM scanner machine. They tell me that the company should have installed pre-programmed sensors as these ones need to be programmed for my car first before they can be linked to my car.

They tell me that the Lexus dealer should be able to program the sensors without taking them off the wheels and then link them to my car, is this true? I dont want to have to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars to have the wheels and tires dismounted to install new sensors.

Any feedback would be great, thanks in advance!

I had this problem. They are probably aftermarket and not compatible. Dealer will probably tell you to buy OEM. Expensive but it will save a lot of hassle.

I was at my local firestone shop this weekend, they say they can pick up the sensors and they appear to be correct, however they are not pre-programmed so each sensor is showing as a "duplicate" sensor. The wheel place that I bought them from said that they used genuine Lexus sensors, I am not 100% sure if they really did or not but I hope that the lexus dealer can still reprogram these.

ya they can use that too, and most of the aftermarket tpms don't work too.

The sensors can be accessible by just breaking the bead, without actually dismounting/remounting/balancing the tire, but it is an inconvenience that could've been avoided had the tire shop recorded the sensor IDs prior to mounting.

Good news...my lexus dealer was able to successfully reprogram the sensors. They charged $125 plus tax, quite a hefty fee just for reprogramming.. but the wheel shop I bought the wheels from reimbursed me for this, great company they seem to be.. so I am a happy guy now. Thanks for all the feedback!
