Default Missing Keyfob - Lease Turn In

So my lease is ending soon and just got Auto VIN to check the car for any repairs needed. My wife ended up losing my spare keyfob and I just checked their report and says that LFS will be charging $375 for the missing keyfob.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience but I rather pay $1xx online for a keyfob to replace the one I had but doesn't come with the computer coding. Do you think LFS cares that it's not programmed and can I just say that we never end up using the spare so we weren't sure that it had stopped working? Or will LFS care that it needs to be programmed.

I figure I can just get the spare, save myself about $200 and just have the dealership program it but not sure how much they charge if any to program the remote.

Thank you.

Correct. $375 charge and LFS will NOT waive it and us dealers have no power to waive it. Generally what djrabbi said is what works... If you get a matching fob you generally won't get caught.

Your dealer should be able to get you a replacement fob for around $250.

Well don't think I'll be jumping back into another Lexus. I'll just get a replacement one online to save myself that money.

Yeah I feel same way now... Don't think I will ever get another Lexus. So many small issues with this car and drives me bonkers and they refuse to fix them either.

If the car is wrapped you may want to remove that as well, I am not certain that that isn't chargeable either (Just noticed your sig).

Yea I actually got Auto VIN to come check out the car. Minor dings they put a cost to it on the paper for LFS but it's showing under No Charge which is good.

However, they did mark my roof wrap, roof spoiler and rear spoiler wrap along with the missing key to be charged $725. LOL. I will remove them before they go back so I don't get charged for those. They did miss my front bumper wrap He didn't add that to the paper.

May I ask, examples of small things? I have 30k miles on my 2014 with lux pkg and have had zero things wrong. Only 2 complaints are the OEM dunlops and the year after getting hd traffic and weather. In both cases not something wrong just could have been better.

I'm making my final decision soon but I think it all comes down to the BMW 340i and 535i. I was also debating about getting into a 2016 GS but I don't know if I want to get back into another Lexus.

I have a few scratches/dings that are tiny and I believe if the size is less than a credit card, they'll mark it as normal wear/tear. I also have a small ding on one of the rims and they also marked that as normal wear/tear.

Aren't you allowed up to $5,000 in "damages"?

Hmmm...

I just traded in a leased vehicle. No inspection was done. They ran it through their dealer auction site to give me a very reasonable value. Of course I had both keys, but there were a few paint chips and door dings.

Maybe because I traded it in, instead of dropping it off at lease end, they don't do all that BS inspection stuff...

Correct.

No inspection on a trade-in.

I'm sure if I got into another Lexus that all these would be waived off. We'll see though. Still debating. Lease doesn't end for another month.
