After front tint installed... engine light + TCS off?
Hey guys.. just had my front tint installed... the engine light came up and TCS is automatically turned off.. cannot turn it on...
The installed who I have been going to informed me that the cause is from the fluid & gravity as they installed the tint.
Should I be worried? Should I wait a certain amount of time before going to the dealer? if so how long? car only has 1400 miles on it.. makes my heart cry
Haven't tried that yet black T.T just got into the office. I plan to go down to the garage in 2 hours and if it has not resolve, I will try that method.
So just unplug the battery, let it sit there for a bit, and plug it back in?
i've had my windshield tinted twice (had to redo after a crack in windshield). The first time i didn't pick up the car for a couple days. The last time, I waited while they tinted. Had no issues like you described. Did 50% ceramic tint both times.
You might have your pre collision camera behind the mirror? The tint would be obstructing it's view
Oh... would that cause the TCS to turn off thus the engine light? I didnt know the camera was behind the mirror... meaning I would have to have the tint guys cut out a portion to compensate that part.

2016 GS?
I guess with my 70s of Suntek CXP would do nothing.
So I went down to the parking deck, engine light is on not the TCS, sorry guys. I played around with the TCS and it will turn off/on along with the VCS and the pre collision.
So the main question is why the Engine light would turn on after a tint windshield installation. The only thing I did, engine wise, is install a takeda intake, but it has been on there for 1500 miles now haha.
I plan to disconnect the battery as stated by bigblack and worst case scenario I drop her off at my dealership for further diagnostics. Best Monday ever..
That may be the problem not the tint, I would def get a code reader and find out what the code are before you reset the battery. The Takeda intake I'm talking about.
Went to a store, got the code: P0158.
I used this same intake on my 2015 RC350 for 10k miles, never had this occur.
Here is what the code is:
Possible causes
- Faulty Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2
- Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 harness is open or shorted
- Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 circuit poor electrical connection
- Inappropriate fuel pressure
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Intake air leaks
- Exhaust gas leaks
When is the code detected?
The P0158 code is set when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects that the rear O2 sensor signal voltage remains excessively high for an extended period of time.
In other words I may have to buy a new intake that makes sure it is ECM friendly? :/
Thank you guys for your help and answering my questions.
I am for now going to clean the MAF and see if this issue comes again. If it does, I will pop on the stock send it to the dealership. Could be that a sensor went bad.
