Default Price help on 2014 GS please!

Im shopping on GS350 2014 cpo at Lexus dallas. How much do people normally get discount on the used one? Couples years ago the max I can ask for is 1k off msrp. Is it possible to negotiate 10 percent off at Lexus dealer? Thanks everyone!

I can't think of a CPO car on my lot that has enough markup in it where I could discount it 10%...

3-5k off the selling price if you can negotiate properly. Also, depends on how much the car is listed for sell in the first place.

It depends what the car is worth, truthfully.

The typical GS that I list online has $2000-2,500 of markup in it. We tend to stay at our internet prices or extremely close to them; I just do not have anywhere near the markup in my inventory to take thousands off of an advertised price.

The market for used cars is, with the internet, much more competitive than it used to be. If I price cars where I can discount them that much then nobody is going to come in or call or email in the first place.

You should search comparable cars and see what they're selling for.

Right now if you're looking at a 2014 GS350 AWD F-Sport with, say, 20K on it in my market that's $43K and the seller will take $3K off vs another one at $39,500 that's firm..... Which is the better deal?

Who knows? 2014, right? Color? Miles? Equipment? I can give you a pretty good idea of what a fair price would be.

If it's Sewell you're talking about, I'll say that I doubt they will go down that much from the stated CPO price on that car, but I would never say never, and it is always worth a try. You could offer $3-4K off their asking price and then see what they come back with. If nothing else, get them to throw in updated navigation software, new floor mats, window tint, and anything else you can think of that is low cost to them but high cost to you.

I was looking at Sewell and noticed they seem more expensive than Park Place? Which dealers do you recommend in the DFW area? I am in Abilene, so Sewell in Fort Worth is closer to me.

We buy our cars at Sewell in Dallas because (a) they're closest to us; (b) we like the overall service experience there, and their service department is way better than average, and (c) we have a salesman there who doesn't BS around with us, and that is worth something in my book. But with you being in Abilene, you could easily play one dealer against the other price-wise. They compete heavily with each other. If there is a new car at Sewell in Dallas that you want, Sewell in Fort Worth can get it for you, so don't let that be a deterrent. I'm sure the same would be the case with the two Park Place dealerships in the DFW area.

Having said all that, back in late January I was thinking about buying a 2016 GS F-sport and got quotes from each, and Park Place's price (via internet sales dept.) was quite a bit lower than Sewell's, by about 2% if I recall correctly. It may have been because it was the end of the month that their price was so good, so I'm not sure if their pricing is always that much better or it was a one-time deal.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely try to put them against each other when I email them. Thinking it's probably best to buy from the dealer that will be servicing the car as well. So I will give Sewell in Fort Worth the lead unless their pricing is much higher..
