Default Introducing my GS450h

Thought I would introduce myself. I'm pretty new to the 4th generation Gs's, but not to Lexus. I've had 3 2nd gen GS's and still own a 2001 GS300 that I never drive anymore. Also had a 400 and a 430. Plus I owned an sc400 for a while. (Aside from quite a few other cars I now have)
I got my mom a 2013 RX450h which is a really nice car and this car is for my dad. I will be giving it to him soon, but I've already modded it slightly.
I added the Fsport front bumper and had the interior rewrapped in gray suede.
Came out amazing!!! Especially when seen in person.
Also had the eBay lip on there for a few days. looked really nice but I ripped it off here in LA driving through a puddle when it was raining. I didn't want to put it back on since I know for sure my dad will mess it up. i will post it for sale soon if there are any locals that would be interested.

Also this car is pretty quick for a hybrid and I've been getting ~30mpg and that is without babying it.
That is more than double the mpg's of my other 2 cars that i drive regularly!!

Anyway here are some pics!!

With Ebay Lip

Removed the center console to be able to fit the headliner out of the front door

Headliner removed and front driver seat removed to be able to pivot the headliner out of the front passenger door. Though ended up re installing the headliner with the driver seat back in place so it can be done without removing the front seat.

Removed the eBay lip

pretty good gas mileage!!

Congrats on the TWO recent hybrids in your family! You didn't expand on any of the details of your GS. ::EDIT:: Nevermind, I forgot that you had posted some details in the hybrid subforum: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/hyb...h-f-sport.html

How do you and your like driving it thus far? Since you've got a TON of experience with Lexus vehicles, how does it compare to the others you have owned? Btw, what car is that in burgundy on the right side of your first picture?

Not sure what your true mpg is based on the pic you've shown, but generally get close to 450 miles per tank (when driving slightly past when the 0 miles remaining range). Generally upper 20's or lower 30's. I have more city driving than highway driving in my commute though.

Anyway, I have NEVER seen a GS450h that gutted before, lol. What made you want to change the headliner? I'm liking the more aggressive look with the eBay front lip.. sorry to read about that getting ripped off.

I can't believe you took the front seat off.. my service tech said that's such a pain to do! I guess now I know who to contact if I ever mess something up in my interior, lol. Add me to your friend's list (I had sent you a friend request on here)!

Good to see a few more GSh owners popping up here recently. All the best my friend!

not too bad really. A shop did the actual upholstering. I just helped remove everything.

It drives really nice. Handles better and is much quite/smoother. Especially comparing it to the other Lexus's I've driven. of course my GS's were much older. I had a GS430 which I did everything to. From supercharger to coilovers. Handled better and was faster than the 4th gen GS but not as smooth and with aftermarket FI, you will ALWAYS have issues. Especially due to these re-learning lexus emu's. So all around the 4th gen is a great car!
Feels much quicker than the RX450h i had for a little bit. But of course slow compared to my other cars. For a sedan and for being a hybrid, it definitely feels quick. My average mpg's on this tank so far are 30.2mpg's. I'm 90% city driving
I really like the look of the eBay lip as well, but it's just not practical for my dad. If I was going to keep the car I would change the wheels and keep the lip.
Not sure why your tech would say it is a pain to remove the front seat. It is literally 4 bolts (14mm I believe) and 3 plugs you have to remove before pulling the seat out. 10 minute job
My friend redid his caddy in black suede and I love the way it looks, so I decided to do it as well.
Really looks amazing in person.

As for the other car in the picture....It's an Aston Martin. Has a beautiful suede headliner as well, but that one is from the factory.

Very nice! Really like new head liner. Just curious, how much did that cost if you dont mind me asking? I also have the f sport bumper conversion planned for my GS. Hopefully I can get to it in the coming months.

Wow. That was quite the job. The headliner looks really nice (and probably feels as good as it looks), but will it interfere with the performance of the curtain side airbag deployment?

Seems like a big job, but it really was not that bad. Specially if you have a shop do the actual wrapping.
I don't think it would interfere with the airbag since the airbag actually pops the headliner out and comes out of the side of the headliner when it inflators. So theoretically should still work.

Very nice! Love the suede headliner. I'd also be really interested to know what it cost...

As a side question, in the bottom of storage compartment in the center console, there is a rectangular line that looks like a section of the bottom is a panel that can be popped out. Can you tell me if that is true or is that just a decorative line and the bottom is solid?

Thanks! Go for it, the Fsport bumper conversion transforms the car completely. I actually like the rear valence/exhaust tips on the Fsport as well, just didn't pull the trigger on it.
Total for the headliner was about $450
Not bad at all

Thanks, Yeah me too, should get 450 miles easily out of this tank and its only a 15 gallon tank I believe. My older GS has a 20 gallon tank and can't come close to those numbers.

Thanks. About $450. But I did a lot of the labor myself as far as removing the headliner. First shop I talked to wanted to remove the rear windshield and I definitely did not want to do that. So I removed the headliner myself

I know exactly what you are talking about. I thought there might be some bolts under there when trying to remove the center console. But there aren't. You can pop it off, but it has some type of material/insulation glued to it that you will tear apart. Don't think it damages anything if you do, but just letting you know. If you remove that you will have direct access to the harness that plugs into the SRS Control Module. But really I don't see the point of it since you would still have to remove the center console to remove the srs module. I guess you could use it to unplug the harness from the module and any of the airbags and use it to test to make sure there are no cuts/damage to the electrical lines.
