Windshield Dilemma
Guys, Safe-lite is offering me OEM windshield with Lexus logo on it or an aftermarket one. I just have to fork over $644 for the OEM. Lexus window insurance only covers up to $1000. I have to pay the remaining balance if I want OEM. I pay $0 for aftermarket. If I go with my own insurance company, I need to pay the $500 deductible and then fight for OEM. Safe-lite says their windshield has a lifetime warranty from warping, stress fracture, and leaking. According to them, the quality is just like Lexus but without the logo. So I just have to decide to pay $644 or go with the aftermarket that they offer. I appreciate all the inputs from you guys. Thanks.

Otherwise I would bite the bullet, like you, and fork over the extra $$ for OEM.

. They will always say their aftermarket glass is "the same" just "without the logo". We've all been told that, and we've all been unhappy with the aftermarket quality glass. If you google you'll find lots of information on this subject, what is OEM, the differences, etc. If your deductible is $500 for your insurance I would just take the path of least resistance and pay the $644 for OEM Lexus glass. I would rather have a chipped, cracked OEM windshield than an aftermarket one with no chip/crack.
