Default Can automatic headlights be aimed manually?

My GS 350 headlights appear too low on regular beam, but my dealer tells me they can't be adjusted to aim higher as they are automatic. Is this true or is the dealer wrong?

Yes it can be adjusted....see pg. 661 on the owner's manual. Or see here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3P...it?usp=sharing

Yeah mine seem low too. The auto adjust is nice to prevent blinding people but on some roads at night it seems like I can overdrive them at 50mph unless driving uphill. It'd be nice if it would aim itself slightly higher until it senses oncoming traffic.

AKA auto high beam. Another option we were shafted on here in the US.

Nah, the low HID projectors are just fine with the distance they handle, and auto brights are a hassle and don't work right half the time. Some older vehicles would flash the brights while driving next to reflective construction barrels. The lows just need to creep upwards a bit with no oncoming traffic.

The best auto brights I've seen are on new Infiniti's, because it's a sophisticated system. It's a combo of the old light sensor and a camera in the rearview mirror that fires forward. Between both pieces of hardware it's about as accurate as you can get.

I was going to comment on the same issue. Last night after driving the GS i thought it was just me. Jumped in the BMW to see the difference. Big difference, I'll need to adjust also.

Disagree. Our RX350 has them and the system constantly second-guesses your need for high beams: you flick the lever for high beams, and the system decides when to turn them on. Very annoying to say the least.

Whaaaat? I assumed flicking the stalk overrides the auto function. That didn't make too much sense if it doesn't. :/

When the Headlight Switch is turned to On the High beam works normally, push away - On/pull back - flash.

When the Headlight Switch is on Automatic the pushed away position is then Automatic High Beams.

To quickly override AutoHiBeams either pull to the wheel (and hold...) for On or just to the middle
position for Off. Be sure the windshield in front of the camera is clean for best response times

Thanks for that link. I had read the manual but been confused by the bolt for both U/D and L/R combo. Now I see you need to turn it back. Awesome!

Mine were low from the factory too. Strange, my Acura was the same way, but that didn't have auto level.
