I've been having a great deal of trouble with VR commands on my '13. Nothing I do seems to help. Siri and I get along just fine so I'm inclined to think it's not me.
Does anyone else have the same problem? Any tips?
Thanks.

It's not you. VR in the 2013 GS is hit or miss for me too. It sometimes works wonderful when I'm alone, and it mostly fails when I try to show it to the missus. Don't know why. Tried different scenarios with and without background noises and the results are all over. Bought the car fully expecting the whole nav thingy to be weak, so I'm not upset.
I can't get it to do much other than "Dial [Name]" (though I always manage to screw up the subsequent "dial" command where it wants me to verify the contact/number) and "Go Home." It does those two reliably though...
Try adjusting mic sound/volume/sensitivity. Also make sure climate control vents aren't blaring. For the most part it works about 95% of the time in cars with this generation of navi 2013/2014 except 2014 IS, GX and CT which have an even newer (and better IMO system).
For calling people make sure you're saying the name how it's in your phone. If there's a last name you need to say the last name. It's essentially a cloud system so if you update the contact it'll update in the car. If the contact you're trying to call is not getting it right, try changing the name. If the contact is too short or similar sounding to another contact, add a last name or change the name.
For destinations sometimes you need to think like "her". For instance I had a problem getting it to do Chabot Street. Pronounced 'Sha-Bow', so instead I pronounced it 'Sha-Bot' and boom computer got it.
Anyway those are just a few tips

I haven't seen the secret dealer menu but I have seen another phone menu that lets you adjust sensitivity. Mine is ok, I actually had to turn it down a notch because some people said I was yelling at them.
Now if there was just a menu to make the caller sound better over the speakers...
