Default iPhone Compatibility

I have two iphones set up for my 14 GS and I connect one phone via bluetooth. the iPhone 4 isrunning on IOS 6 and iPhone 5C is running on IOS 7. I can't read text message on either of the phones no matter what I do.

Anyone experience this or have solutions?

I don't think you can read texts through the car with the iphone.

Go to iPhone Settings -> Bluetooth -> Car Multimedia. Make sure "Show Notifications" option is On.

This is correct. I get my text messages to the nav screen as soon as they come in on an iphone 5 running ios7. Now if I could just get my email this way.

The one thing those of us with iPhones cannot do is use the reply function...Apple did not fully implement the MAPS protocol to allow us to do that.

Wow I didn't know our cars did that with the iPhone, I thought there was some kind of problem. Great news!

Unfortunately there is nothing Lexus can do to solve this...Apple needs to fully implement MAPs to allow us to reply.

Actually, for those with a 2014 4GS, I believe the Siri Eyes-Free functionality will give you some capability to dictate a reply via Siri. Which is why I keep hoping Lexus will provide an update for us early-adopters...

1) You can't reply. Apple does not allow this to work on their end.
2) Apple also doesn't provide E-Mail information, only SMS/iMessage.

Default 5s not reading texts

When I originally bought my car, I had a 4s and the texts were read. I upgraded to the 5s and lost the ability. I did go back and check the show notification screen, but that didn't help. I then deleted the phone from the car and the pairing from the phone and re-paired it. Again, I had to check the show notification option after, but it is still not working. Any other suggestions?

So this may sound silly as my Fsport is on order and I can't play with it yet. Do the texts "read" to you or are the displayed to you on the screen? I have an Iphone 5S and am just wondering what I am going to get once the car gets here?

Not silly at all, just a little anxious. I was playing with this feature early this morning. The nav system will notify you audibly and visually of a new text and give you the option to hear it or ignore it. Use the joystick to select and it'll be read AND displayed. This is on a 2013 GS350 using an Iphone 5 on IOS 6.something.

Thank God Audi has struck a deal with Google for Android compatability. I might have to go Audi after my Lexus GS lease is up. I hate Apple products.
